Breaking Through with Gratitude, Grace & Growth

As we near the end of Women’s History Month 2022, I can’t help but reflect on it and think of the most important woman in my life, my mom. As a first generation graduate of Rowan University she always emphasized the importance of education and community service in my life since I was a girl. As an award winning middle school history teacher, she taught me lessons and gave me knowledge that made me the person I am today.

As a business major, it has been a challenge to enter a world that is male-dominated. In my classes, you will only ever find a few females. When I work in groups, it is extremely likely that I will be the only woman. My specific major does not have any female faculty members. Despite all of this, I realize that being “different” from the majority of students in my classes is a unique perspective I can use here at school and even when entering the workforce. Knowing that I don’t necessarily fall under the standard business person category is something I value.

On June 1st I will begin my time as Student Body President within the SGA. I am excited to work on the many goals and initiatives that I have committed to achieving. I will bring my own ideas to this role but I won’t forget about those who came before me. Some of the inspirational Rowan alumni who were SGA Presidents are Arielle Gedeon, Jean Edelman, & many more. To close out this important month, thank a woman in your life that means a lot to you because I’m sure that your sentiment will mean the world to them.
