CARPENTRY CLUB

The Carpentry Club is a new opportunity for Logic School students on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:45 p.m. Participants have already been meeting and creating projects such as toolboxes and outdoor benches. We strive to provide opportunities to build projects right from lumber without using kits so students can experience carpentry from planning through product. You may have seen the bench near the cafeteria door already!

If you think your student would be interested in the Carpentry Club, a new session will begin on March 2nd. The cost is $40 per month. If you would like to sign up or have more questions, contact Coach Chris at cschlender@veritasnc.org

WARRIOR ATHLETIC NEWS

The Varsity Boys Basketball Team had their season come to a close last week. The Warriors lost to Victory Christian Academy 70-66 in the CSAA State Tournament. Veritas finished their season with a record of 11-6. Congratulations on a successful season, and thank you to Coach Tom Young for leading the team this year.

The Varsity Girls Team won their first game of the CSAA State Tournament, defeating Mountain Island Day Community Charter 65-32. That win put them in the semi-finals of the tournament, where they were beaten by Liberty Prep Christian 58-34. Our girls finished their season with a record of 14-4. Congratulations, again, to our girls on their Conference Championship and a great season. Thank you to James Holt for leading the girls this season.

The Middle School Boys Team won a couple of games to advance to the Championship game of the CSAA JV State Tournament. On Tuesday, Veritas beat Victory Christian Academy 37-28. Thursday, we beat Heritage Christian 34-28. In the Championship on Saturday, our boys lost to Northpoint Christian 57-30. We challenged our boys to compete against some older competition, and they represented our school very well. Veritas finished their season with a record of 13-10. Congratulations to the boys on a great season, and thank you to Mike Jennings for guiding the boys through the year.

Our Middle School Girls Team played in the CSAA JV State Tournament as well this week. On Thursday, the Warriors beat Mountain View Christian 34-17 to advance to the Championship game. In the Championship, our girls were defeated by Providence Day 23-15. Like the middle school boys, our girls were challenged to play against some older competition and played so well to make it to the Championship. They conclude their season with a record of 16-1, and a conference championship. Congratulations girls! Thank you to Michelle McClain for leading our girls throughout the season.

Go Warriors!
FROM THE NURSE'S CORNER

Dear Veritas Community,

As mentioned in our newsletter last week, modified Health Guidelines go into effect today. Changes include that if a student or faculty are exposed to Covid-19 and considered a close contact, they are no longer required to quarantine unless they become symptomatic or test positive for Covid-19. For questions regarding this new statewide decision, please see StrongSchoolsToolkit for more information. I have also added a linked document: Make Up Work/Assignments that will help navigate the next steps should your child miss school.

We are encouraged that covid case numbers have decreased significantly in the last couple of weeks. Thank you for your continued prayers for the health of our school as we look forward to spring.
