Dear Susan,

This edition of my newsletter has a lot of photos and a lot of sunshine! Perhaps it is because of the beautiful spring days - I've really been enjoying seeing folks out and about.

On May 15th, I will be holding a community meeting on the topic of a future Springs Community Plaza - I hope to see you there to share your thoughts! Please review the flyer below, and help spread the word with friends and neighbors.

Keep reading for updates, announcements, and community news.

Springs Utility Box Project - The Springs Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) teamed up with Art Escape and the talented artist Kaya Rose from Glass Wing to transform Comcast and Caltrans utility boxes along Highway 12 into whimsical, memorable works of art! This community collaboration is ongoing — three of five boxes have been beautified — bringing light and color to the vibrant Springs area of the Sonoma Valley. Thank you, Springs residents for theme input and Sonoma County Public Infrastructure for the support with this colorful project.

Over the years, I’ve observed painted utility boxes in cities and towns across the United States, often with themes and images reflecting the local culture and spirit of their communities. It has long been a passion project of mine to see a similar public art project in the Springs. Little did I know the number of hoops we would have to jump through – it was no easy feat, but nothing our tireless MAC members, Art Escape, and the amazing artists couldn’t handle! Please keep an eye out for these treasures next time you’re walking around the Springs.

I want to thank Kathleen Miller, former President of the Parent Hospital Association of the SDC, for organizing as well as everyone who spoke - it was a beautiful and moving day.
