The Seattle Education Association is the voice for educators standing with our students united to address the needs of our community and to transform our district into an anti-racist school system where every student thrives.
How to Access KN95 Masks & Rapid Tests and DOH Guidance on Contact Tracing

SEA continues to monitor the supply of rapid tests and KN95 masks in schools as well as any updates from Public Health.

MASKS: Every school can submit a request for a one-week supply of rapid tests via a Microsoft Form. The form can be submitted by the COVID Site Supervisor, Protected Healthcare Room Attendant, Nurse or Administrative Secretary. SPS has been fulfilling requests within four business days of receiving the request. Staff with concerns about the number of tests should inquire with their COVID Site Supervisor.

COVID TESTS: According to SPS, they currently have enough KN95 masks to supply every staff member at each work site with three masks. This Monday, all schools will be provided twenty N-95 masks for each staff member. Middle and high schools will be provided enough so that any student who wants them can get ten N-95 masks. If your school did not receive three masks per staff member, please contact your school leader so they order additional masks and copy [email protected].

CONTACT TRACING: On January 24, 2022, DOH updated two additional documents for K-12 Schools. Access the documents here: Symptom Decision Tree for Schools and Contact Tracing Guide and FAQ for K-12 Schools

Sign the Petition to OSPI - School Districts Need More Flexibility
It is critical that SPS leadership and OSPI listen to and follow the lead of educators and students during this crisis. One thing both educators and students are calling for is OSPI to provide flexibility to school districts so that district leaders have the autonomy to make decisions that serve our local school communities best. We need to break free of the 20th century model that defines basic education by counting hours and days. Instead of focusing on how many hours students sit in their seats in a classroom, we should focus on how we meet students expressed needs, how we spend more quality time learning, and how we provide anti-racist instruction. Tell OSPI to give us flexibility and autonomy by signing this petition today and share the petition widely.
