Project RISE's Upcoming Virtual Training and Open House for Providers | |
Differentiated Literacy Instruction
June 21, from 10 a.m.-noon. Attention Certified Teachers! If you have not yet completed the Differentiated Literacy Instruction training, this is your last opportunity to get it done before summer! Learn how to use data from the ORF and Maze assessments to identify struggling readers and to develop reading intervention plans unique to each student. Attendees will also learn how to create a plan of action to differentiate reading instruction.

For more than a quarter of a century, the not-for-profit organization Be Strong International has helped children and parents improve their relationships through a variety of programs and initiatives. Be Strong provides holistic educational services and resources to youth and parents from broken families in order for them to develop heart skills and maintain healthy relationships.
Be Strong has brought their expertise to bear as part of The Children's Trust Parent Club, as it is among the organizations that facilitate the workshops that present families with tools and strategies to help build healthy and caring relationships among parents and their children.
The organization has a variety of programs for youth, parents, married couples and the community. Its Be Strong After School Club helps children develop and recently had a big impact on the life of Kiara Davis. Her father, Andrew, shares the incredible transformation he has witnessed from his daughter after participating in the Be Strong After School Club program, funded by The Children’s Trust. In this program, she has received academic support, learned all about healthy relationship through Heart Skills, and participated in different activities like photography classes, culinary arts classes, dance and more! It’s amazing to see firsthand the real and authentic, positive changes happening in the lives of youth in our communities!

Change the Life of a Child in Foster Care; Serve on Citizen Review Panel | Florida Foster Care Review, which advances the safety, stability and success of abused and neglected children, youth and young adults by connecting them to essential services, healthy relationships and forever families, seeks caring community members to volunteer one (1) weekday a month for a minimum of one (1) year to serve on its Citizen Review Panel (CRP); volunteers must be at least 25 years old. The CRP conducts reviews over Zoom of active, judge-referred child welfare court cases. | |
Supporting Safer Communities Program Capacity Building Grant Applications Now Open |
In collaboration with Miami-Dade County through its Office of Neighborhood Safety, The Carrie Meek Foundation will award $7.3 million in grants through its Supporting Safer Communities Program (SSC Program). The effort includes investing an amount not to exceed $140,000 to provide capacity building and technical assistance to funded community organizations and grassroots groups. Services will be provided in direct support of grantees awarded through the SSC Program.
The goal of these grants is to strengthen grantee capacity to achieve success, including: 1) delivering impactful community services, 2) remaining in compliance with their SSC Program grant agreement, 3) fulfilling leadership and collaboration roles, and 4) managing and sustaining programs and operations.
The types of organizations to be served are grassroots groups, individuals, small neighborhood-based organizations, and faith-based, civic and other established community-serving organizations, and any existing 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that provide interventions that address the factors driving community violence and gun violence.
A minimum of 50 Grantees to be served.

The Health/Nutrition coordinator is responsible for health and safety related services for all children, parents and staff in the Head Start program. Head Start Social Worker

Development Director
The Development Director will support the advancement functions of the organization, including building, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a portfolio of donors for annual and multi-year gifts. The Director will focus on growing corporate giving. Responsibilities will include direct fundraising, fundraising activities coordination, stewardship and advancement-related administrative support in order to strengthen our work with donors and partners, thereby advancing mission, programs and impact.
The successful candidate will be authentically committed to mission, and be a strategic, flexible, and positive thinker responsible for direct fundraising.
Assistant Site Director
The Assistant Site Director (ASD) is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services that most directly affect Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars.
The individual in this role is organized, self-motivated and collaborative, with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Site Director
The Site Director manages the staff and day-to-day operations of the school-year and summer programs at one of Breakthrough Miami’s six host school sites. This position is responsible for ensuring all program operations are aligned with Breakthrough Miami’s vision, mission and goals; and for continuously improving educational enrichment and operational processes.
The individual in this role is able to operate effectively in diverse environments, achieve outcomes in a flexible, fast-paced environment, lead change and inspire others to action, and communicate consistently and effectively.
Summer Instructional Coaches
Summer Instructional Coaches (ICs) are experienced and successful professional educators who provide content-specific support for BTM Teaching Fellows throughout the summer and engage fully in the BTM community. ICs dictate the level of academic rigor during Breakthrough Miami’s summer program through their interactions with Teaching Fellows. They effectively communicate content specifics to Teaching Fellows, guide Fellows through effective planning and execution, and hold both Fellows and students to the highest standards. ICs are expected to lead department meetings, visit Fellows’ classes at least twice a week, evaluate lesson plans and curriculum overviews, and meet individually with Fellows regarding their ongoing work. Since ICs are the only professional teachers on-site, they are accountable for the quality of instruction students receive, and are responsible for supporting BTM Teaching Fellows through their teaching experiences. This role starts on June 10, 2023, and ends on August 4, 2023.
The individuals in this role must have a State of Florida Teaching Certificate or equivalent; an outstanding track record as a professional classroom teacher; exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to deliver positive, constructive and honest feedback; and creativity, energy and commitment to excellence.
Summer Site Coordinators
Summer Site Coordinators (SSCs) are critical members of the summer administrative team and help ensure the smooth and safe operations of the Summer Institute at their assigned site. SSCs train, coordinate and oversee volunteers; supervise the summer food service program for Scholars and staff; order and keep an inventory of program supplies; coordinate general office administration; manage the Scholar drop-off and pick-up process; and assist with the execution of special events. This position starts on June 10, 2023 and ends on August 4, 2023.
The individuals in this role must have a strong academic record with a minimum of two years of college completion; and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Summer Assistant Site Directors
Summer Assistant Site Directors (SASDs) work collaboratively with full-time directors at their assigned site to ensure a successful Summer Institute; and work closely with Scholars and their families, as well as Teaching Fellows to ensure their needs are met. This position starts on June 10, 2023, and ends on August 4, 2023.
The individuals in this role must have a bachelor’s degree; a high degree of flexibility in order to multitask between projects; exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in many different environments with people from diverse backgrounds; comfort and confidence in working with children and adults; and creativity, energy, and a commitment to excellence.
