Business Faculty Win University Awards

Congratulations to professors Gabe Piccoli and Andrew Kuo, who have been honored with 2024 University Faculty Awards. Join us in celebrating their excellence and contributions to our community.


Professor Piccoli has received the J.W. Annison Jr. Family Alumni Professorship for his contributions to the field of information systems.


Associate Professor Kuo is recognized with the Faculty Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Mentoring Award for dedication to fostering inclusivity.

AI-Powered Platform Wins Pitch Competition

FarmSmart, an AI-powered platform connecting farming and gardening communities to tailored information on crop management, won first place and $20,000 in the 2024 J Terrell Brown Venture Challenge.


Entrepreneurship major Ellen Frye earned second place and $10,000 for Eternal Exchange, a platform that redefines the burial plot market by ensuring clients have a simplified and dignified transaction experience. 


Taking third place and $5,000 was the interdisciplinary team behind Flickleball, an immersive tabletop football game. Held annually, the J Terrell Brown Venture Challenge is open to any on-campus student in the LSU system and alumni who graduated within the last year.

Public Administration Alumna Selected for LSU Leadership Role

LSU has named Courtney Phillips, former Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health, to the position of Vice President of Health Affairs and Chief Health Officer. In this role, Phillips will work closely with university leadership across the LSU system as well as with healthcare partners to maximize the system’s healthcare-related financial well-being, enhance operational efficiency, develop new revenue streams, and leverage related strengths. Phillips earned her Master's in Public Administration from the E. J. Ourso College

The Ourso College will hold professional development and networking events for alumni in Dallas, Austin, and Houston this summer. Each event will feature a professional development seminar and an opportunity to network with Dean Jared Llorens and area business alumni. Seminar attendees will receive an LSU Executive Education completion certificate that may be used toward fulfilling professional certification CEU requirements.

2024-25 Credit Analyst Education Program

Registration is now open for the 2024-2025 LSU Department of Finance and Louisiana Bankers Association’s Credit Analyst Education Program. The program runs from Sept. 2024 to March 2025, with a graduation event in May 2025.



Attendees will participate in classroom sessions two days a month for six months, focusing on topics critical to the underwriting and lending processes. They will also network with peers and participate in group activities.
