DUE FRIDAY: Seed Grant Application (FY 2023 – 2024)

On behalf of the Scholarly Activities Board

The Office of the Provost is announcing the call for proposal for the Seed Grant (FY 2023 – 2024). All tenure-track probationary and tenured academic and administrative faculty of CSU-Pueblo are eligible to apply for the funding. All Seed proposals must include funding for at least one registered full-time undergraduate (preferred) or graduate student. The maximum award for a Seed award will not exceed $10,000. Faculty who never received a Seed grant will receive a 5% increase in their earned score, meaning they will receive 5% more priority over whoever received a grant in the past. Applications that have potential for external grant funding are particularly encouraged. The proposals will be evaluated by the Scholarly Activity Board (SAB) and will be recommended for funding based on merit only regardless of college, school, department or rank.

Applications are due by Friday, February 10, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.

DUE FRIDAY: Spring 2023 Graduation Contract Deadline

On behalf of Registrar's Department

The due date for Spring 2023 graduation contracts is 5:00 p.m. on 02/10/23. Contracts may still be submitted after this date, however a $25 will automatically be assessed and placed on the student bill. Summer 2023 graduation contracts will not be accepted until term registration opens in March.

All electronic contacts should be sent to the designated email: graduationcontracts@csupueblo.edu.

Please review the following common issues on all graduation contracts before submission:

• Intended semester for graduation, catalog year, degree intent and all major(s), emphasis area(s) and minor(s) are correct and reflect what is on the DARS audit.

 • All DARS audit deficiencies noted are fixed PRIOR to contract submission. (Exceptions and petitions must be reflected on the DARS audit prior to submission.)

• ALL required signatures are present.

• A current “green” DARS audit is attached and reflects accurate student enrollment information. For electronic contract submission please save the audit as a pdf and attach it to the email.

All contracts are reviewed before being placed in the degree conferral queue. If any of the above issues are found, the contract will be returned for corrections before being placed in the queue, and may then be subject to a late fee if re-submitted after the deadline.

Please note degree conferral and participation in the commencement ceremony follow separate processes and deadlines. The information in this announcement refers solely to degree conferral. Information regarding the commencement ceremony can be found at https://www.csupueblo.edu/commencement/index.html or by emailing commencement@csupueblo.edu.

New: Beware! New Hacker Tactics with Phishing Emails

On behalf of Information Technology Service - Information Security

As we all become aware of data security threats as a regular part of our day, one thing to take note of more recently is that hackers are now trying to get you to open malicious file attachments. When you open these malicious file attachments, malware can automatically get installed on your computer and do terrible things like remote into your computer, capture your key stokes with Keyloggers, and even unleash a ransomware attack on our campus network.

To help protect our home and campus networks, please be careful to not open the following file types from unknown/untrusted senders: .RAR, .ZIP, and Windows Shortcut (.LNK) files, and never open a .ISO or .EXE file attachment.

Please remember to contact me with any questions or concerns, or if you need help identifying if an email or attachment is legitimate.

Spring 2023's Meet the Research: Socio-Ecological Paradoxes

On behalf of Sociology/Criminology Club

The Sociology and Criminology Club started the "Meet the Research" lecture series as a way to provide students, staff and the community with a way to learn about the work our professors are doing. This semester's lecture will be given by Dr. Michael Briscoe titled "Socio-Ecological Paradoxes: The Unexpected Consequences of Progress". In this lecture Dr. Briscoe discusses how using technologies to replace environmentally harmful things is good, right? Electric cars, e-readers, plant-based meat substitutes - these supposed environmental positives may have a paradoxical effect on resource consumption…
