In the philosophical system of the Ten Bodies, the negative mind is the second body, which protects us and helps assess risk. As the first and most primal of the mental bodies, the negative mind reminds us that what’s negative is not always “bad.”
Kundalini Yoga reveals that there is no light without darkness. Even the word Guru implies darkness and light. So while love, light, and rose-colored glasses seem super spiritual as we start on the path, we later learn that there’s nothing more real than a well-balanced negative mind.
A balanced negative mind allows us to assess risk, set proper boundaries, and navigate our own life. It acts as a protective voice and keeps us grounded. While we don’t want the negative mind in charge of all our decisions, we need to integrate it if we are to navigate from darkness to light.
Let’s explore it.
