The transition from high school to college can be a difficult time for any student. Making decisions such as whether or not to go to college or what school to attend are significant life choices.

While students with learning disabilities can be just as intelligent as their peers, they attend four-year colleges at half the rate, according to the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD). And, those who do attend college are less likely to complete it. So why are students with learning and attention issues struggling in college and what can we do to help?

NCLD has identified three components that are important to the success of college students with learning and attention issues:
1. Reducing stigma and promoting self-advocacy
2. Encouraging resilience and persistence
3. Providing access to information and accommodations
