Champlain Parkway Project

DATE: Friday, May 3, 2024

DURATION:

Unless otherwise noted, work will be restricted to the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., all roadway and lane closures will reopen during the evening hours and on weekends, and access to residential and business driveways will be maintained. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists throughout the work zone. Businesses will remain open! Motorists should anticipate rough and uneven gravel driving surfaces throughout the project limits.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES & TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Howard Street

Early next week, crews will be removing the existing hydrant and installing a new hydrant on Howard Street near its intersection with Pine Street. This work will require a water service interruption to several residential properties along Howard Street west of Hayward Street. This service interruption will take place Monday, May 6, 2024, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Impacted property owners and residents have been notified directly. For additional information, read the full notice here

Pine Street

Crews will be working along Pine Street from just south of Lakeside Avenue to just north of Kilburn Street. Work will take place along either side of the roadway with construction activities phased to prevent overlapping work zones. This work will require lane closures, driveway impacts, on-street parking restrictions, and changes in traffic patterns. Access will be maintained and impacted property owners will be reached out to directly.

Pine Street will continue to be reduced to a single northbound travel lane between Locust Street and Maple Street during work hours. All southbound vehicles traveling south of Maple Street will be detoured from Pine Street at Maple Street to St. Paul Street and will continue along Shelburne Street to Flynn Avenue and back to Pine Street.

Kilburn Street, Pine Place, Marble Avenue, and Howard Street will be restricted to right turn only at their intersections with Pine Street. Kilburn Street, Marble Avenue, and Howard Street will remain open with intermittent width reductions. Locust Street will remain open to two-way traffic, but at a reduced width. Flaggers will be stationed at each side street to assist motorists. Please see the detour graphic below.

Pine Street - West

Late next week, there is the potential for crews to install some of the remaining curb along the west side of Pine Street between Howard Street and Kilburn Street, focusing on installing the curb at the remaining driveways.
