Dear Fellow OA Member:

There is an expression that "all politics is local." Could that be said of OA -- that it's all about what is happening locally, in my meetings and my program? Perhaps in the beginning, but as time goes on, an awareness of the big picture develops. I am amazed at how far reaching OA is at the international level covering 19 countries, yet touches my program. In the upcoming months, each of us will have multiple opportunities to get close to OA World Service without traveling to its headquarters in New Mexico. That's right, OA World Service will be more local than ever.
Just a few short weeks ago Ocean & Bay Intergroup was represented at the 2016 OA World Service Business Conference. In this newsletter, our delegate Kara M. has provided a delightful and creative report (download below) highlighting her experience and the important "business" of OA recovery. Additionally, at 7 p.m. prior to the regular O&B Intergroup meeting on June 7th, she will bring WSBC even closer with her special "live" report. This is a great time for newcomers and old timers alike to come hear how OA World Service impacts our local and individual programs.
Next month, we will have the honor of welcoming Region 6 World Service Trustee, Karin, from Ontario, Canada, who will lead the OBI-sponsored workshop entitled "Empower Your Program." Karin will share her inspirational story of personal recovery and dedicated service at the regional and world level. The half-day event will take place on Sunday, July 31st at Kent Hospital. See below for more information and to download the flyer.
Finally, the OA World Service Convention will be in our "backyard" September 1-4 when thousands of OAers from all over the world will celebrate "The Trail to Freedom" in Boston. There are plenty of options for participation in this once-every-four-years convention. Choose from a full four-day experience complete with hotel accommodations and Saturday night banquet to a day trip to take in a full morning-to-night packed with workshops, meetings, speaker events, and fellowship. Keep up with the latest convention news in Waves of Hope. Look for insider tips and how to make the most of a day trip on a budget in coming issues. Reminder - Early Registration closes on July 1st. Don't miss out on these opportunities to get up close and personal with the world of OA!

My hand in yours,
Leslie A.
