Our next Fiscal Open Lab will be on Friday, May 3. This session will deepen your understanding of budgets, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing. Your participation is vital as these improvements aim to streamline administrative procedures and strengthen our partnership. To provide quality and individualized support, we are limiting the number of registrants for these sessions. Free Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Youth in Miami-Dade County at UM *

Thanks to The Children's Trust Parenting and Family Strengthening Grant, the CAMAT Program is providing free evaluations and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to youth in Miami-Dade County. Children (ages 7-12) are eligible to participate in free group CBT with a simultaneous parent group for 15 weeks. Catalyst Miami Hosting Leaders in Grassroots Health Transformation (LIGHT) Program Starting May 7 

Catalyst Miami's Leaders in Grassroots Health Transformation (LIGHT) provides participants with an intersectional groundwork for becoming grassroots health equity advocates and leaders. Program graduates can apply for a Neighbors to Leaders Fellowship—mini-grants with continued mentorship—to support their own community resilience projects or initiatives. The goal of the program is for participants to:


  • understand how the U.S. healthcare system and its associated industries came to be;
  • learn strategies for achieving quality healthcare for all;
  • explore the intersections of housing, climate, and health;
  • develop their skills in framing the issue, public speaking, writing, and community organizing;
  • understand the role of different non-profit and political bodies in local healthcare advocacy work; identify their interests, strengths, and passions as grassroots health justice leaders.

UM Recruiting for Study: Parents Or Someone Who Works 3-6 Years Old

The University of Miami is recruiting caregivers and those who work with children ages 3-6 years to participate in a Virtual Reality Study. Participants will receive up to two $50 gift cards to Walmart or Target for participating in the study. 28th Annual Conference Gun Violence Prevention: What We Know & What We Need to Know

The Melissa Institute is hosting the 28th Annual Conference- "Gun Violence Prevention: What We Know & What We Need to Know" scheduled to be held virtually on May 3.

Community Engagement Manager $61,565.02-$107,738.79 Annual

The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for performing a variety of community-driven duties with an emphasis on maintaining contact with community groups, parents and other caregivers, providing support to residents on children’s needs, as well as evaluating and responding to community needs concerning children. The incumbent exercises independence of action and will possess considerable knowledge of community activities and needs for children and families and use considerable professional judgment in the performance of community engagement work. Community Grants Administrator - $61,565.02 Annual

Job Postings for Breakthrough Miami

Development Coordinator - Events, Engagement & Stewardship *

The Development Coordinator will support donor and adult volunteer stewardship, engagement opportunities, and development events. Serving as a connector between donors and the program, the Development Coordinator will collaboratively develop stewardship and engagement plans and support special events management to create meaningful experiences and connections. The Development Coordinator will also support operational needs including refining processes for acknowledgement, gift reporting and pledge collections.


The individual in this role must be able to endorse and communicate the Breakthrough spirit and mission; be a skilled relationship builder, comfortable with donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; and have excellent writing and strong event planning/coordination skills.


Site Director *

The Site Director manages the staff and day-to-day operations of the school year and summer programs at one of Breakthrough Miami’s six host school sites. This position is responsible for ensuring all program operations are aligned with Breakthrough Miami’s vision, mission and goals; and for continuously improving educational enrichment and operational processes.

 

The individual in this role is able to operate effectively in diverse environments, achieve outcomes in a flexible, fast-paced environment, lead change and inspire others to action, and communicate consistently and effectively.

 

Assistant Site Director *

The Assistant Site Director (ASD) is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services that most directly affect Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars. 

 

The individual in this role is organized, self-motivated and collaborative, with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


Summer Instructional Coaches *

Summer Instructional Coaches (ICs) are experienced and successful professional educators who provide content specific support for BTM Teaching Fellows throughout the summer and engage fully in the BTM community. ICs dictate the level of academic rigor during Breakthrough Miami’s summer program through their interactions with Teaching Fellows. They effectively communicate content specifics to Teaching Fellows, guide Fellows through effective planning and execution, and hold both Fellows and students to the highest standards. ICs are expected to lead department meetings, visit Fellows’ classes at least twice a week, evaluate lesson plans and curriculum overviews, and meet individually with Fellows regarding their on-going work. Since ICs are the only professional teachers on-site, they are accountable for the quality of instruction students receive, and are responsible for supporting BTM Teaching Fellows through their teaching experiences. This role starts on June 10, 2023 and ends on August 4, 2023.

 

The individuals in this role must have a State of Florida Teaching Certificate or equivalent; an outstanding track record as a professional classroom teacher; exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to deliver positive, constructive and honest feedback; and creativity, energy and commitment to excellence.

Family Support Counselor *

The Family Support Counselor in Broward is responsible for the provision of advocacy, care coordination services, counseling, parenting training and psychoeducational groups to families of children with disabilities, individuals with developmental and other disabilities who are raising children, their families and care givers as well as professionals and others seeking assistance.

Training and Experience: Masters level, licensed or license eligible social worker or mental health professional. Minimum of 2 years experience with client population and knowledge of local community strongly preferred. 

Salary Range: $60,000-$65,000.



Family Support Coordinator

The Family Support Coordinator is responsible for the provision of advocacy, support and linkage services to individuals with developmental and other disabilities, their families and caregivers as well as professionals and others seeking assistance. Utilizes strength-based strategies to build families’ protective factors.


Training and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's in social work or related field. Minimum of 2 years-experience working with families who have children with disabilities and knowledge of local community strongly preferred. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Bilingual English-Spanish required.


Salary Range: $40,000 - $45,000. It offers 100% employer-paid medical benefits, 12 paid holidays, and generous PTO.
