Hello First Presbyterian Church,

I spent most of the morning with one of the Women's Circles. This year they've been using Brian McLaren's book, "We Make the Road by Walking." In today's lesson, I shared the following quote from the book:

"Resurrection has begun. We are part of something rare, something precious, something utterly revolutionary. It feels like an uprising. An uprising of hope, not hate. An uprising armed with love, not weapons. An uprising that shouts a joyful promise of life and peace, not angry threats of hostility and death. It's an uprising of outstretched hands, not clenched fists. It's the 'someday' we have always dreamed of, emerging in the present, rising up among us and within us. It's so different from what we expected- so much better. This is what it means to be alive, truly alive. This is what it means to be en route, walking the road to a new and better day. Let's tell the others: the Lord is risen! He is risen indeed!"

How are you experiencing resurrection these days? An uprising of hope and/or love? A joyful shout of promised peace?

We'll continue our Eastertide celebrations in worship this Sunday, and I hope that you'll join us.

Peace,

Pastor Rosy

A Message from the Houpt Family

Dear Friends & Family,

With grateful hearts, we ask you to consider supporting our fundraiser for the Cure JM Foundation. As many of you know, our daughter, Norah, has been battling the rare disease Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM) for almost six years. JDM caused her immune system to attack healthy muscle and skin. Some of the treatments that have taken her from a wheelchair-bound toddler to a happy, active nine year old were funded by Cure JM.

This year for the first time locally, Norah is leading a team at a local walk! Norah’s Duckies is our name and we hope you can join us! Walk Strong to Cure JM - Dallas is rescheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 9 am at Scottish Rite for Children - 5700 Dallas Parkway, Frisco. We are looking forward to seeing you there! There will be fun for the kids, raffle baskets, and the short walk will start at 10am. Norah is asking the team to please wear a yellow shirt if you have one! We will also have yellow bandanas for everyone. Let us know you’ll be there by clicking the link and selecting “Join Team.”

Even if you cannot attend in person, we very much appreciate a donation of funds – every dollar takes our team closer to our goal!

Your gift will be put right to work to:

  • Advance four clinical trials
  • Help kids get the best care
  • Provide peer support for teen and young adult patients and parents
  • Fund our largest-ever new grant cycle, including investigating a new type of gene therapy

Progress in JM treatment relies on individual donations like yours, so thank you in advance for considering supporting this cause that means so much to our family.

All the best,

The Houpts | Nick, Julie, Colin, Eliot & Norah
