While welcoming warmer weather this past Sunday, we also were blessed by the ministry of our wonderful Handbell Choir. Many thanks to them, to Rev. Dean Bickel for presiding, and to Deacon Johnine for preaching. As Chris Detweiler mentioned during the 10:15 AM service, we are extremely grateful to Deacon Johnine and all of our retired clergy who have truly been there for us during this time of transition.
Priya's update from the search team reminded us that the team is actively interviewing candidates to be our next rector. Let's keep praying for our team, for the candidates, and for our staff, who work very hard behind the scenes to keep so many things in our parish running smoothly.
One of my roles on Vestry is to work closely with Deacon Johnine on outreach. We are a parish that shows our love for our neighbors through many acts of service and through financial contributions that enable our ministry to others. If you'd like to get involved in outreach, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Kristen and I regularly reflect on how grateful we are to have found Church of the Holy Spirit - a truly special, welcoming community.

Rev. Joy Segal and Rev. James Shannon.
Joy and James are both long time supporters of Holy Spirit and friends of our retired rector Rev. Kathy Andonian. They come to wish us well on our transition journey.

The Rev. D. Joy Segal has been active in lay and ordained ministry in the Diocese of Pennsylvania for many years. She served as a lay minister in her home parish, All Hallows, Wyncote, where she was encouraged in her call to priestly ordination. After years in corporate America Joy turned in a new direction. After ordination she served as Assistant Rector at Church of the Messiah, Gwynedd, Interim Rector at Trinity Church, Buckingham, and Rector of Gloria Dei (Old Swedes) Church, Philadelphia. She retired from full time ministry in December 2017. Joy loves traveling, reading, puzzling, walking, and being available to supply as clergy when needed in our Diocese. She lives in Philadelphia with her husband Alan, founder of The Jazz Sanctuary and new puppy, Daisy. | | |
James has a long time relationship with our parish as leader of several of our youth pilgrimages and as supply clergy. Before retirement, James served as Sub Dean at Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral. | | |

Here at Church of the Holy Spirit, we have a vibrant gathering of individuals who pray daily for those in any kind of need whether physical, mental or emotional. Your request for prayers can include members of your family, friends, or your colleagues at work. Anyone.
This Prayer Chain is coordinated by Priya Eddy who can be reached by email at priyaeddy231@gmail.com. You can email Priya directly or myself about any concerns which need the attention of our Prayer Angels. Please consider joining this prayerful group by contacting Priya and she will make sure you are included in all the emails of prayer concerns.

Food Pantries Update
If you wish to contribute to the Food Pantries and have forgotten to bring your food donations, you may find a box with the words Food Pantry named on it. There will be envelopes nearby to put your donation in. I will make sure it gets to the appropriate Pantry.

Community Outreach
On Sunday June 9th at 2:00 PM, the youth choir will go with Deacon Johnine to the Birches to provide a worship service. Our thanks to all our families who are participating in this important community outreach ministry.

Transition Prayer Gathering Schedule
We will no longer be meeting via Zoom on the third Sunday of the month. We will now meet on the first and third Sunday of each month in the chapel as we pray during this time of Transition. We will meet at 9:05 and end our time together at 9:25 so the folks can get to choir practice on time. Thank you for your attention to this news.
Please join us for a 20-minute time of prayer, both said out loud and within our hearts. It is a holy time for all involved. All are welcome!!
