Tall Cop Visit:
August 15, 2022
6:00-7:30 PM

Join Officer Jermaine Galloway, the “Tall Cop” at the Hanover County Administration Building Board Room (7516 County Complex Rd) on August 15th, 2022 from 6-7:30 PM to learn about substance misuse prevention in Hanover County. Seating for this event is limited, register ASAP!

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign:
August 17th begins the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign". The impaired driving enforcement mobilization runs from August 17th through September 5th. This campaign focuses on law enforcement efforts to stop drunk drivers and offer preventative education and resources. To learn more about this Campaign click the link below.
Executive Director Update:
We want to recognize and welcome Whitney Whalen to the Hanover Cares Coalition as the new Executive Director of Hanover Cares. Whitney is joining us from Chesterfield SAFE where she previously served as the Grant Coordinator. She will begin as Executive Director starting August 1st. Welcome, Whitney!

In partnership with Community Coalitions of Virginia and their efforts to educate on the risks of High Potency THC. Learn the differences between Cannabis, Marijuana, and THC.

National Night Out Kickoff:
The National Night Out kickoff event is August 2nd at Green Top Hunt Fish located at 10150 Lakeridge Parkway. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be police and fire equipment on display, Child ID fingerprinting, fire safety smoke house, child safety seat installations and inspections, and free food. Be sure to stop by our booth!
Tobacco Free Tuesday:
Join us for the August Tobacco Free Tuesday webinar featuring Colleen Hughes, State Synar Coordinator with the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS). Ms. Hughes will present on DBHDS' Initiative, Counter Tools, which includes a state-wide retailer verification project with individual store audits and merchant education to retailers who sell tobacco. This initiative has gathered really interesting information that you won't want to miss! 
Overdose Awareness Day:
August 31st is International Overdose awareness day. This holiday is held each year to recognize those that have passed due to overdose. To learn more and find ways to honor those that have passed, click the link below. For a local candlelight vigil see the link below for more information.
