THIS SUNDAY AT 9:30 A.M. IN THE PARISH HALL

INFORMATIVE AND TIMELY for Today's World

Spot and Stop Scams—Forum for Youth and Adults

Next Sunday, May 5th at 9:30am

There's a significant rise in online email and text scam attempts, and we've had our share of online attempts that targeted parish members here at St. Matt's. Our communications and Christian Formation committees have joined together to bring you needed information on avoiding being scammed yourself. The forum will be presented by Lyndsie Williams, a member of St. Matthew's. Lyndsie works in the field of bank fraud and is knowledgeable about current fraud and phishing scam methods.

Arm Yourself with Information!

Come have breakfast at 9am and then spend some time together discussing current financial fraud trends, how to spot them and what you can do to keep you and your loved ones safe. We will look at elder exploitation/romance scams, USPS blue mailbox thefts and phishing/social engineering scams. Come for the education and bring your questions. Brought to you by the Communications Committee and Christian Formation Committee.

IS COMING MAY 19!

There will be ONE service at 10:00 a.m. on Pentecost, May 19, as we celebrate the birthday of the Church. Don’t forget to wear RED!

Do you speak a foreign language? We need you Sunday, May 19 on Pentecost, to be part of the Acts reading. Please contact Fr. Tim, Greg Andrews, Joan Kengla, or call the church office.

Baptism: Pentecost is a day when traditionally the sacrament of Baptism is administered in the church. If you or your child would like to be baptized on Sunday, May 19, please contact the church office, or talk with Fr. Tim right away.

Rector's Corner: Parish News

I want to inform our community of an office staff change. Mary Vore stepped down from her job as our parish registrar this week to attend to some personal matters. Mary has served faithfully in this role for almost the past two years. We thank Mary for her work and ministry and wish her the best in the future. Mary will continue to be a member of St. Matthew’s.

To maintain the smooth functioning of our office, we have decided to recruit a temporary parish registrar who will assume Mary's duties and responsibilities. In the interim, I will review the parish registrar position with the wardens and vestry to help us determine the best way to hire our next parish registrar.

In addition, we will advertise the job position for our next youth minister in the next few weeks. The youth committee and I have worked on the job description over the past month with help from the diocesan youth missioner, Holle Tubbs. We are looking forward to hiring this person over the next few months.

Transitions and new beginnings are hallmarks of parish life. We need to recognize when they occur and work through them as we prepare for what God has for us next. If you have questions about these staff positions, please contact me or the wardens, Clay Olbon, and Susan Jung. We will keep the parish informed about the staffing updates.

Have a great weekend, and I look forward to seeing everyone in worship on Sunday, in person or online.

Peace,

Fr. Tim
