COMING UP AT SOUTH GATE

“And she said, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” And he awoke from his sleep and said, “I will go out as at other times and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had departed from him. Judges 16:20
Picture it. Things have been rough in the relationship. Careless actions. Mumbled replies. Then it happens. Someone says something. The bright eyes begin to dull and the walls around the heart begin to be built. In that moment, the relationship has been severed irreparably. Next thing you know, things go from bad to worse until what was a beautiful relationship has become two strangers with memories.
Samson seems to have been an arrogant, petulant mess. He took what he wanted, always played victim, and didn’t care about the consequences of his actions or how they impacted others. He foolishly believed his strength was about him. The fact that it was in his hair should have helped him realize it was all God. What a sad and scary moment for him to realize that the Lord had departed from him.
What a sobering lesson. We see God’s provision/blessing/gifts displayed through us or our work. But we begin to get arrogant, proud, and believe it is us. Then, in a moment that we aren’t even aware, God departs from that work, that ability, that gift. What was once beautiful and full of life becomes a shell of what it was.
Samson figured it out eventually. My encouragement to you is to evaluate your life. Are you doing some aspect on your own, believing God’s in it? Don’t find out the hard way. Run to him, stay close, and recognize His role. We get to join God, not be the god. May we all desperately lean on God as much today as we did the first day we recognized our need.

What is VBS at the Park?!
VBS is an intentional evangelistic opportunity great for on-campus or off-campus community outreach. This year we are taking VBS into our community!
VBS at the Park is a one-day initiative where we take the Gospel message into our community. The Gospel will be presented through crafts, games, songs, Bible teaching, and making relationships. Our community will have a blast while every activity points them to Jesus.
This will create a fun and energetic day that will have lasting memories and lock Bible truths in a child’s heart and mind for a lifetime.
Would you like to go out into our community and engage families for Christ?
Make sure you register to volunteer!
This will be an amazing family outreach opportunity! After we have rotations of games, songs, and Bible teaching, everyone will be invited to stay for a free BBQ lunch!
Sunday, June 2, will be our VBS Celebration Sunday. It is our prayer that families will come to our Sunday service to hear the Gospel, and stay for an Andy’s treat after service!

BRIDGE OF FAITH MISSION TRIP

South Gate is helping Bridge of Faith Church in Rockaway Beach with their Summers at the Beach program. We will go down and help them with their summer program and anything that they need done. We will have an informational meeting coming up soon. Please arrange to serve on this trip this summer!

Every moment spent at FUGE Camps is intentional. Camp programming is designed to take students out of their normal routine and place them into an environment that is focused on life-change through relationship with Christ.
Join us for FUGE Camps 2024 as we look at four stories in the Bible of great change and revival that resulted in generational impact and be challenged to make a difference for generations to come.
