April Edition:

Film Event Recap and Program Updates

Thank you to those who joined our Community Film Night showcasing The Seeds of Vandana Shiva earlier this month!

Spreading the word about the vital role of seed saving is key to ensuring seed sovereignty. One powerful avenue for spreading this knowledge is through engaging film screenings within our communities.

Support Our Mission Today!

Following our film screening, our GSS team had a blast hosting a post-film chat with special guests Bea Crisostomo and Chef Asha Peri! We dove deep into thought-provoking discussions about seeds and food sovereignty. Our post film discussion was more than a conversation, it was about spreading awareness and sparking conversations about seed sovereignty in the Philippines.

Stay tuned for the recording!

Updates From the Field

Preserving Heritage: Saving Seeds with BASS

Global Seed Savers team, led by Elizabeth Martin, recently hosted a Seeds Inventory and Tracking System (SITS) monitoring meeting with the Benguet Association of Seed Savers (BASS) in Tublay. This meeting helped monitor and inventory the seeds of BASS members, ensuring the preservation of our agricultural heritage.

Through our SITS monitoring program, GSS and BASS are not just cataloging seeds; we are safeguarding the very essence of local farming traditions. By visiting and carefully documenting the seeds of BASS members, this initiative supports local communities to take ownership of their agricultural legacy. Every seed inventoried is a testament to resilience, seed sovereignty, and the power of community action.

Nurturing Communities With Good Food Community (GFC): The CLASS Initiative with CROPO

The Global Seed Savers team, Good Food Community, and the Chico River Organic Producersโ€™ Organization explored the essence of seed sovereignty and food security through our immersive Community Learning and Awareness on Seed Sovereignty (CLASS) program, where participants actively shape their agricultural future.
