POSITION OF DEPUTY REGISTRAR

OF THE

ASSOCIATION OF ONTARIO LAND SURVEYORS

Council of the Association is seeking applications for the position of Deputy Registrar of the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the direction of the Association in interesting times as expectations on regulators are evolving and to enjoy a reasonable work life balance.


Applicants should have:


  • Strong communication skills, including report writing, presentation and computer literacy;
  • A strong sense of professionalism and ethics;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • An ability to establish and interpret policies;
  • An interest in meeting and dealing with members of the Association;
  • An ability to deal effectively with the public;
  • A willingness to travel within Ontario.


As Deputy Registrar your duties are mainly statutory as described in the Surveyors Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter S29.


You will be responsible for assisting the Registrar to:


  • Process and issue licences, registrations and Certificates of Authorization;
  • Handle inquiries from the Public;
  • Administer processes for the Complaints and Fees Mediation Committees;
  • Undertake investigations where there is evidence of non-compliance with the Act;
  • Administer processes for the Academic and Experience Requirements Committee for entry into the Profession;
  • Act on behalf of the Association in Discipline and Registration Committee hearings.


The position is located at the Association office in Toronto and reports to the Registrar. The salary is negotiable, and benefits are available. Consideration will be given to alternative work arrangements such as a hybrid environment allowing some work from home.
