As part of the HRBT Expansion Project, construction crews will implement weekly lane closures, detours and traffic pacing on local roads, I-64 and the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. Travel restrictions include possible delays, reduced speeds and detours in some areas. Lane closure, detours and traffic pacing are subject to change based on weather conditions and other factors.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Motorists traveling on I-64 East (towards Norfolk) should expect a new traffic pattern at the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel to begin as early as Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Both eastbound lanes will be permanently diverted to the right at Hampton shoreline and onto the newly constructed eastbound trestle. Read the traffic alert here.

• Single lane closure on I-64 east at HRBT from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

• Single lane closure on I-64 west at HRBT from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Tuesday, April 30

• Multiple stoppages on I-64 east at HRBT from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
•  Each stoppage may last up to 20 minutes.

Wednesday, May 1 to Thursday, May 2

• Alternating lane closure on I-64 east at HRBT from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. for traffic shift activities. CLICK HERE for the new eastbound traffic pattern.

Friday, May 3

• Single lane closure on I-64 east/west at HRBT from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
