Principal Message: Welcome Back
I hope this message finds you and your family well. We missed our students during our break and are very happy to be back together as a Bobcat family! This Tuesday started the 4th and final quarter of this school year. Time has flown by and we have learned so much. On Tuesday, we took a Mindful Moment to reconnect to our school expectations, values and purpose. You can help too. I took time with my own children at home after break to reconnect with important routines (like consistent bedtime) to get back into school mode.

Get connected to clubs/sports It is so important for our children to feel connected to something positive. I encourage you to ask your child if they have checked out a lunch club, after school sport or special program this year. There’s still time! We’re actually launching two new clubs after school on Thursdays: Yoga and Hip Hop. More clubs are listed here. They are free and if needed, students can ride a free bus home to the North Central Neighborhood. We also have a robust Homework Club on Mondays and Thursdays. Finally, Spring Sports are here. I love that Track and Field is a no cut sport that brings students together to have fun in multiple events. Tonight at 6:00PM is the Zoom Meeting. There are other fun sports too like Soccer, Tennis and Boys Volleyball.
|
I also encourage you to talk with your child about technology usage. We reminded students that school chromebooks are for school work and collaborating and it’s important to use technology responsibly and take a break from it to try out new things. You can help by checking out their digial footprint. I learned right before break students have a couple chat functions in their gmail called Google Space and Google Chat. These can be a great collaborative space for schoolwork when used responsibily. If you need help with finding that positive connection or setting technology limits, here's a great article from Common Sense Media. We're here to help too. Please reach out to your child’s counselor for more resources.

Facilities updates: AC is coming! If you drove by Borel during break you saw a lot of construction. We’re excited to share as part of the district Facilities Master Plan teams were laying the electrical equipement for school wide AC. They anticipate it will be done by October. They will be working through the summer and also installing shade structures too. Read more about the project by clicking on these links: English and Spanish.
