Cultivating Connections

Spring 2024

🌀 Another cycle complete! 🌀

The 14th edition of our Champlain Valley Local Food and Farm Guide is out! Find this beauty in this week's Addison Independent, Brandon Reporter or The Hinesburg Record, and at grocery, hardware and garden stores, restaurants, cafes, libraries and events throughout the spring and summer. This is your resource to find and shop directly from our 250+ wonderful local farms! A huge thanks to all of the writers who contributed, and to the amazing team at The Addison Independent who make this project come to life.

🫣 Our brand new Sprinter van, Rhonda Burgundy, is freshly kitted out with a refrigerator (or, "reefer unit," for those who like industry slang) and branding! Here are two very happy ACORNs who have realized their dream of a local food aggregation, storage and delivery service in the Champlain Valley! 🥲

🥬 Salad + Ice Cream = My Favorite Kind of Dinner 🍨

Spring has sprung, y'all!

Every week we are listing cases of baby bok choi, Organic salad greens, mizuna, spinach, hakurei turnips, scallions... not to mention gorgeous herbs! Cilantro, dill and parsley have made their debuts and are begging to brighten up your plates.

We are also SO STOKED TO ANNOUNCE STRAFFORD CREAMERY ICE CREAM IS NOW ON THE MARKET! 🥳 If you have yet to try this single source ice cream, you have no excuses!

The market is open every Friday 12pm - Monday 10am.

Thank you for buying local, and for recommending us to your neighbors and friends. We offer delivery service to select locations. Inquire if we serve your area. $100 order minimum applies to delivery orders.

🚨 We're Hiring a Food Hub Coordinator 🚨

This brand new ECO Americorps Service Member position is a unique hybrid role that will work with both the ACORN Food Hub and CVOEO’s Feeding Champlain Valley. The Food Hub Coordinator will assist in developing the multipurpose food hub in Addison County. This position will serve from September 2024 - August 2025. Read the description here and email Dustin.Bowman@vermont.gov if you'd like to learn more.

Volunteer at our FOURTH Working Bee

Our first three Working Bees have been a blast! We've met so many new people, learned a lot about ag and climate, and have eaten so much amazing fresh, farm to table food.

Join us this Sunday, May 5, for a Working Bee at Stone's Throw Farmstead in Shrewsbury from 10am-2pm. Join Jess and Connor for planting a diversity of cut flowers, sheep shearing, and wool skirting! A taco lunch will be provided. We recommend wearing layers and bringing work gloves. Please RSVP by emailing Lilah so we have an accurate head count for lunch!

Our final Working Bee of the season will be at Frog Hollow Farmstead in Hubbardton on May 19! Help Janis and Jason prep their high tunnel. Tasks include moving top soil, spreading compost, and making rows. Lunch provided!
