Dear international students,

We look forward to seeing you on campus soon! In case you have questions about the COVID-19 vaccine booster requirement that was described in the UD communications sent on December 16 and December 30, we wanted to help clarify a few things:

  • Students are required to be vaccinated with a booster shot by January 24, 2022 and encouraged to get it as soon as possible due to the increased rates caused by the Omicron variant.
  • If you are not eligible for a booster by the time of the January 24 deadline, you will have 30 days from the day of your booster eligibility in spring semester to get your booster and upload your card to your UD Health Portal.
  • Students who were vaccinated with a WHO-approved vaccine (AstraZeneca-Oxford, Covaxin-BBI, Sinopharm-BIBP, Sinovac) more than 6 months ago are recommended by the CDC to receive a single dose of Pfizer vaccine for your booster.
  • There are several opportunities on and near campus to get your booster:
  • The University will be hosting vaccine clinics on campus starting tomorrow.
  • The State of Delaware COVID-19 Vaccine website provides links to local locations for boosters.
  • Note that the registration systems for UD and surrounding pharmacies are not always accommodating to those who received their vaccines abroad. However, these events are open to the entire university community and you can definitely register for a vaccine using them.

You can find answers to questions about boosters and more on the UD Frequently Asked Questions webpage. If you have a question about boosters that isn't answered there, please submit it by emailing coronavirus@udel.edu

As always, don’t hesitate to contact CGPS with any other questions or concerns.

Best wishes,
The CGPS team
