REMEMBRANCES OF WONDER

Remember the wonders he has done.

                                                                              I Chronicles 6:12

I stood at my patio doors last week taking in the beauty of a cherry blossom tree as the breeze lifted the loose petals and they fluttered to the ground , adding to the showy, trumpet like daffodils . Suddenly out of the corner of my eye I caught deliberate, slow movement. Three or four deer were seeking something for their afternoon snack, and I marveled at their awareness that I was standing motionless watching them turn their heads in my direction. I continued watching this picture that God had painted for me, and began to wonder how often we stop to thank Him for the things that bring beauty into the mundane.

What causes us to be filled with awe, to stop us in our steps and thank God for His blessings and generosity? Charles Spurgeon, a well known English Baptist preacher, often stated the following:

Too many people write their blessings in sand and their sorrows in marble.

So now it’s your turn. It’s time for your heart to reminisce, to remember what matters, to shore up your faith, to know that every step we take on earth is God’s creation and therefore is Holy ground.

Lord, help me recognize you with every step I take. Amen.
