ANGELS – OUR HELPERS
Psalm 91 speaks of God’s protection over those who love, trust, and dwell in Him. Verses 9-12 (KJV) tells how. “Because thou hast made the LORD…thy habitation (dwelling place), there shall no evil (harm) befall thee…for He shall give His angels charge over thee to keep thee (safe) in all thy ways. They (angels) shall bear thee up in their hands…”
God has more angels than there are people on earth. Their principal assignment is to oversee our care. We do not see them and do not know them, but they know us. Hebrews 12:22 speaks of an innumerable company of angels.
We each have a guardian angel assigned to us. However, there are numerous other angels coming and going that minister to us (seeing to our needs and helps us) on an ongoing basis.
Hebrews 1:14 speaks of the angels mentioned in verse 13, “Are they (angels) not ministering spirits sent forth to minister (serve) for (on behalf of) them who shall be heirs of salvation?”
As spirit beings, we cannot see them with our natural eyes. However, they do have the ability to manifest in such a way that on rare occasions we may actually see them with our eyes. Sometimes our eyes are opened to see them in their actual spiritual bodies, and such appearances are astounding. Most people will never see one that way. When it does occur, it is for a special reason.
Angels also have the ability to appear in a normal human form. We do not recognize them as an angel when that happens, but sometimes we might realize it (by reasoning) after the fact. Hebrews 13:2 addresses this. “Be not forgetful (negligent) to entertain strangers, for thereby some (of us) have entered (encountered) angels unawares.”
Whether or not you ever knowingly see an angel, they are all around us. God has appointed them as helpers and overseers for His people. Even unbelievers may have an assigned guardian. But remember, that as believers, (Psalm 91:11), He (God) shall give His angels charge (commandment) over thee, to keep (protect and help) thee in all thy ways.” That, my friend, is a lot of security.
