March Maple Sugaring!!!

Ohio tradition centuries in the making. It’s Maple Sugar Days at Great Parks! They say good things take time, and that definitely rings true with maple syrup! To make one gallon of maple syrup you have to harvest up to 40 gallons of sap. Pair that with the fact that most maple trees only produce 5-10 gallons of sap, that’s a lot of hard work (including for the trees). But the end result – nothing short of delicious.

A family-favorite event, Maple Sugar Days celebrates the awakening of trees as they prepare for spring with the traditional technique of making maple syrup.

News

International Women's Day was celebrated on March 8th in the Apollo Room of the Student Union. Wright State President Sue Edwards shared her experience as an immigrant born in England and a citizen of Australia, and this was very inspiring for all international students. Joined by fantastic women from different cultures and clubs, we had a relaxing event with a word art workshop and tea from various countries.

OPT Application Submission for Spring 2023

If you are an international student graduating in the Spring 2023 semester, you may start applying for OPT after January 29, 2023.

Please use the link below to access and complete all required documents for the OPT application:

OPT Information | University Center for International Education | Wright State University

Choose an OPT start date between May 1  – June 28, 2023. If you already have a job offer or are regularly interviewing now, choose an earlier date. If you have not, choose a later date.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have ANY reservations regarding graduation for Spring 2023 semester, please do not apply for OPT until after semester end grades have been posted.

Maintaining status on OPT is still the same as usual

You are permitted only 90 days of unemployment between the start and end dates on your EAD card. In addition, you are required to report the following information through the SEVP Portal while on OPT within 10 days of the change:

1. When you start a new job.

2. When you change addresses.

3. Periods of unemployment.

4. 6-month validation

Can I travel back to my home country during OPT period?

Please be aware that if you are unemployed for more than 90 days, you will lose your OPT status. Also, during this uncertain time, we do not suggest international travel as there is no guarantee of open borders.
