A Message from the President

"Say, [O Muḥammad], "My Lord has ordered justice and that you direct yourselves [to the Qiblah] at every place [or time] of prostration, and invoke Him, sincere to Him in religion." Just as He originated you, you will return [to life]” [Qur’an 7:29]

By the grace and blessings of Almighty Allah, we are very excited to announce the opening of our second location in downtown Seattle! MAPS-Seattle is a 6,500 SF facility located at 2100 5th Avenue, right in the midst of Seattle’s vibrant downtown. The facility, part of MAPS expansion vision, will serve the growing Muslim community living and working in downtown Seattle, including the large MAPS Young Professionals community who attend and lead many events at MAPS. The building is within walking distance of several area employers:
- Amazon Spheres: 0.2miles
- Oracle OCI: 0.4miles
- Pike’s Place Market: 0.5miles
- Meta Arbor Blocks: 0.6miles
- Gates Foundation: 0.6miles
- Zillow: 0.6miles
- Space Needle: 0.6miles
- Uber: 0.7miles
- Stripe: 0.8miles
- Google: 0.9miles
|
|
The facility is beautiful, modern and welcoming. The red brick architecture and warm lighting creates a serene prayer space. We ask all of you to visit the MAPS Seattle on your next trip to downtown. Stop by, pray and make duas for everybody in our community.
MAPS-Seattle will be open for the 5 daily prayers. Our Imams and Khateeb circle will lead Jummah prayers. Two of our young hufadh’s, Dr. Junid Naveed Ahmad and Obaid Farooqui, will lead Taraweeh this Ramadan, Insha-Allah starting Friday, April 1, 2022.
|
|
As we establish ourselves at the facility, MAPS will extend its religious, educational, social, outreach and activist activities at MAPS-Seattle. We can all expect the many committees at MAPS (MAPS-MCRC, MAPS-AMEN, MAPS-MCOC, MAPS-IOC, MAPS-Now, MAPS-Youth, etc.) to extend their activities to the location in the coming days and weeks Insha-Allah. Watch our Facebook for announcements on these programs and other events, including upcoming classes and Iftaars at MAPS-Seattle.

We are ever grateful to Allah Ar-Rahman for being so merciful to our community and for enabling us to dedicate such a beautiful space to His worship. We thank Him for growing our community and expanding our presence. We thank the community for their continued contribution and support that have enabled MAPS to thrive. And we thank all our volunteers and staff who dedicated time to make this masjid a reality.
We are convinced that the MAPS-Seattle space will spread goodness and goodwill in its surroundings.
Ameen,
Hyder Ali
MAPS President

✨ MAPS-MCOC Storytelling ✨
MAPS-MCOC is pleased to announce that we are working with MUHSEN to improve the experience at our mosque for those who are differently-abled. MUHSEN is a non-profit organization, founded by Sheikh Dr. Omar Suleiman and Sister Joohi Tahir, that advocates and educates, conducts training, and implements programs and services across North America to improve the experience within mosques, conventions, related classes, and events, as well as to foster a positive and welcoming community for persons with disabilities. MUHSEN, through their Masjid Certification Program, ensures places of worship are equipped to accommodate special needs individuals and their families. MAPS-MCOC aims to become the first Muhsen-certified masjid in the State of Washington, insha'Allah (God-willing)!
As part of the certification process, MUHSEN gathers information from masjid attendees and visitors regarding their specific needs and how to best accommodate them. We encourage all our community members who may have a special need to fill out the MUHSEN survey at the link below. MUHSEN will gather this information and provide recommendations and feedback to MAPS on measures taken to ensure needs are met. MUHSEN does not share the identities of survey takers with MAPS.
