Glenna Phelps-Aurich, Executive Director of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce (right), presented the Business of the Week award. to Plain Skincare LLC and co-founders Laurie Jones (left), Tom Cass (not pictured) and Jonathon Jones (not pictured).

Plain Skincare LLC started research and development in 2020 to create formulas that effectively moisturize dry skin in Colorado’s arid climate.
Each of their co-founders brings entrepreneurial and corporate experience to their team. Laurie Ganong Jones is a serial entrepreneur and business consultant. Tom Cass is a chemical engineer with R&D experience in the pharmaceutical and consumer products industries. Jonathon Jones is a consumer industry finance and operations expert.
Laurie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. She has no family history of this disease and during treatment researched and became an advocate of organic ingredients. Plain Skincare’s mission is to combine nature’s benefits with a scientific approach to make and sell organic products that effectively and safely hydrate dry skin.
They spent about two years creating their brand concept, working on formulas and researching the natural and organic skincare market. Their first products were launched under the brand Rideau Organics in March 2021. “Rideau” is a French word meaning “a small mound of earth.”
As Coloradans who are outdoor enthusiasts - they believe healthy skin is needed to maintain an active lifestyle. They researched natural ingredients that really moisturize and protect lips, hands and feet. They just couldn’t find organic products that got rid of chapped lips, ragged cuticles and cracked feet. So they developed the first Rideau Organics products: Cherry Lip Balm, Peppermint Lip Balm, Orange Hand Balm, Unscented Hand Balm and Bergamot Foot Stick.
They work with a Colorado manufacturing company that is a USDA certified facility for organic products. They also offer private label products, like lip balms, that organizations can order for promotional use.
Rideau Organics products are sold in Sterling at CJ Barnes Pharmacy and Lorenzo’s Apothecary. They want to thank their local retailers and enthusiastic customers who have helped them achieve their vision for Plain Skincare LLC. Online their products are sold at Amazon.com and RideauOrganics.com. Please follow them: Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/PLSKC/, Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/rideauorganics. Use Merchandising To
Influence Customers

There was a time when great merchandising was a valuable tool in a retailer’s arsenal against competitors. Then it became a cost-saving area. Now, retailers are rethinking the experiential shopping experience their store offers and great merchandising becomes relevant again. Merchandising is one of the most impactful strategies you can implement to influence a brick-and-mortar consumer and cause them to pause and consider.
