Around Campus

Agriculture Day

On Earth Day, April 22, students at WCA had the unique opportunity to see the world of Agriculture Industries. In a bid to deepen their understanding of the vital role agriculture plays in our everyday lives, they engaged in an enlightening experience that brought the field right to campus.

Through a series of visits from local Agriculture Industries, the students were granted a firsthand look at the intricate processes involved in bringing food from the farm to our tables. These interactive sessions allowed them to explore the diverse facets of agriculture, from the cultivation of crops and raising of livestock to the advanced technologies and innovative practices that help sustain our food systems.

Through this educational event, WCA successfully instilled a deeper understanding of the critical role agriculture plays in our lives and inspired students to consider the impact of their choices on the environment and our food systems.

Life Cycle

The second grade classrooms at WCA have been buzzing with excitement as students embark on a fascinating journey of discovery, learning about life cycles in a truly hands-on way. The highlight of their exploration? Witnessing the miracle of new life as tiny chicks begin to hatch from their eggs.

To share the wonder of this experience with the entire school community, we invite you to take a peek into the classrooms after school hours. Watch Here

This unique opportunity not only offers a chance to observe nature's wonders firsthand but also provides a platform for our second graders to showcase their newfound knowledge and understanding of the life cycle. From the egg to the chick, they have been able to witness the transformative power of growth and development, sparking their curiosity and appreciation for the natural world.

Science Fair

Congratulations 4th grade on your fantastic science fair projects! Your hard work, creativity, and scientific curiosity were truly impressive. The dedication and effort you put into your project show your committment for learning. Keep exploring, asking questions, and pushing the boundaries of science—the world of discovery awaits!

A heartfelt thank you to Meggan Carloss and Kate Parker for their incredible contributions to our science fair! Your expertise, and support made this event a huge success and truly inspired our young scientists. Thank you for sharing your passion for science and learning with us!

Summer Camp

We are pleased to announce that we will be offering a Counselors in Training (CIT) Program during our 2024 Summer Camps. This student summer camp counselor program was successful last summer, so we are excited to offer it again here at WCA. The program will be open to all interested students entering grades 6-8, offering them ample opportunities to develop their leadership skills. As the CIT students will engage in camp activities and events that require staff supervision to comply with state licensing requirements, this program will be offered at a 75% discount from the original price, making the daily rate $11.52 per participant.

The program will include a variety of activities that not only allow CITs to assist younger campers but also focus on leadership development. Detailed lesson plans will be provided outlining these activities. We are excited to have worked to make this program a high-quality experience.

If your child is interested, please Kristina Fisk directly. To register, please use the school website, ensuring all necessary forms are completed before your child attends camp.

9 Common Childhood Illnesses and Conditions

From stomach bugs to roseola, some sicknesses are bound to happen at some point during childhood. But as a parent or caregiver, it can be hard to identify what these conditions are, or when you should ask for help. Plus, many sicknesses can have overlapping symptoms, making it hard to differentiate what illness your child may have. Fortunately, our partners at Children’s Hospital Colorado share expert information on key signs and symptoms of common conditions, how to help your child heal and more. Read more. >>
