Dear 5th Grade Parent,
As we reach the final stretch of the 2021-2022 academic year, it’s time for your student to register for next year’s courses.
Course registration for our 5th grade students is a straightforward and simple process that boils down to one question: Does your child intend to take band in 6th grade?
If your child is not interested in band for 6th grade, there is NO ACTION NEEDED. That is because their schedule has space for 8 electives over the course of the school year; 2 per quarter and there are exactly 8 electives available. Therefore, if your child is not electing band in 6th grade, they will receive all 8 electives and there is nothing you need to do.
On the other hand, if your child is choosing to take band for a second year, they will need to rank their preference for their remaining 4 electives. Remember, band is a yearlong elective occurring every day so it occupies 1 elective period each day, all year, leaving 4 additional electives. Mr. Scaringelli will be handling this elective selection process directly with his students in class. While we cannot promise your student will receive their top choices, we do our best to schedule the majority of their elective preferences.
If your child is not currently taking band in 5th grade but is interested in beginning band next year, they should email Mr. Scaringelli at dscaringelli@lncharter.org.
You may hear about course registration information and deadlines over the next few weeks. This information applies to rising 7th grade students and older. There is nothing more that your 5th grade student needs to know or do beyond what we have shared in this email.
Finally, if any of your contact information has changed, please use the Student Information Update form to tell us. It is especially important that we have accurate email addresses, mobile phone numbers and mailing addresses for both of your student’s parents or guardians. If your student will not be returning to LNC next school year, please email MS Registrar Jennifer Wolfe at jwolfe@lncharter.org to let her know.
