The Government of Saskatchewan celebrated the more than 50 athletes, coaches, officials, support and mission staff who represented the province and Canada at the 2020 and 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Games on Wednesday morning.

Premier Scott Moe and members of the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly welcomed 11 individuals from the Saskatchewan Olympic and Paralympic contingents during the event. It included a meet-and-greet luncheon and acknowledgement of the contingent members on the house floor.
Celebrate volunteers April 24-30
Sport, culture and recreation activities in Saskatchewan wouldn't exist without the dedication, support and hard work of the more than 330,000 volunteers across the province.

From individuals volunteering for the first time to those that have been volunteering their time for decades, Sask Sport would like to say thank you.

During Volunteer Week, April 24-30, follow Sask Sport's website and social media channels as we celebrate the volunteers who help make our programs so great.

To assist in thanking volunteers during the week, Sask Sport has created assets including social media templates, email thank you notes and thank you cards for organizations to use. The assets can be found in the Resource Library on sasksport.ca.

March Athlete of the Month
After competing in six events in nine days and earning a pair of bronze medals at the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympics, Prince Albert’s Brittany Hudak has been named the Sask Sport Athlete of the Month for March.

Hudak raced to a third-place finish in the women’s standing 15-kilometre cross country event with a time of 49 minutes and 27.8 seconds to win her first bronze of the Paralympics. Her second bronze medal came in the women’s standing 12.5-km biathlon race with a time of 49:01.

In addition to the podium visits, Hudak finished in the top ten in the six-km and 10-km women’s standing biathlon events and was seventh across the finish line in the 10-km cross country race. On the final day of Paralympic Games, she teamed up Brian McKeever in the 4×2.5-km Nordic relay. The duo skied to a sixth-place finish.

The games capped off a successful racing season for Hudak. In December, she won several medals at the Para Nordic Skiing World Cup stop held in Canmore Alberta, where she lives and trains.

Hudak is a three-time Paralympian. She won a bronze medal at the 2018 PyeongChang Paralympics.

Hudak was nominated by SASKI Skiing for Disabled.

Saskatchewan's newest millionaires
Donna and Alvin Bohn of Grenfell are ecstatic after discovering they brought home a $1 million windfall on the March 29 WESTERN MAX draw.

When Donna heard that there was a new millionaire somewhere in Regina, she never considered it could be her.

“I saw that a winner was in Regina – but it didn’t click that I had even picked up a ticket,” laughed Donna. “I thought ‘I’m never going to win’ – but decided to check my tickets like usual before Alvin came home.’”

When Alvin arrived back at their house, he found his wife waiting for him.

“I thought something happened! She was waiting outside for me!” laughed Alvin. “She was hollering, ‘Look at this! Look at this!’”

Using the Lotto Spot! app, the couple checked and rechecked their tickets for 30 minutes before they called in to verify their win.
