CDC Updates Respiratory Virus Recommendations
The recommendations suggest returning to normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, symptoms are improving overall, and if a fever was present, it has been gone without use of a fever-reducing medication.
Once people resume normal activities, they are encouraged to take additional prevention strategies for the next 5 days to curb disease spread, such as taking more steps for cleaner air, enhancing hygiene practices, wearing a well-fitting mask, keeping a distance from others, and/or getting tested for respiratory viruses. Enhanced precautions are especially important to protect those most at risk for severe illness, including those over 65 and people with weakened immune systems. CDC’s updated guidance reflects how the circumstances around COVID-19 in particular have changed. While it remains a threat, today it is far less likely to cause severe illness because of widespread immunity and improved tools to prevent and treat the disease. Importantly, states and countries that have already adjusted recommended isolation times have not seen increased hospitalizations or deaths related to COVID-19.

Civil Service Rules Change
Resolution 2020-151 amended Civil Service Rules 5.407 and 5.411. Rule 5.407 governs annual leave accumulation limits, and Rule 5.411 governs the payment of accrued unused annual leave at the time an employee exits the County. Please be advised that the accumulation limits have increased from 256 hours to 356 for general employees, and 576 for fire shift personnel. This change is beneficial to employees, and basically increases the amount of annual leave payout.
The change in the accumulation limits does not impact your accrual rate. All covered employees earn annual and sick leave at the rate of 4 hours per pay period. The effective date of Resolution 2020-151 is August 4, 2020.
If you have any questions, please contact your supervisor, or call Human Resources.

Department Heads and staff should review the brand video and requirements for the new brand logo, tagline and marketing slogan, which was approved for all BOC departments effective July 7, 2020. The official logo, lettering and colors should not be changed and should never appear distorted when printed, embroidered, posted, or electronically shared.
It is important to make all vendors and partners aware of the official brand guide and official color pallette with the correct numbers when creating flyers, promotional, uniforms, swag, etc. for your department using the full color, black, or white version of the logo. White background of solid colors that are not in the logo are recommended that convey all details clearly of the logo (no fade, no lines, no circles, no gradients etc. that would change the logo.) Otherwise, use the black logo or white logo or gray scale only to achieve the full effect of the logo without distorting it.
If you have questions, contact the Office of Communications/Print Services at printshop@claytoncountyga.gov, (770) 477-3562. for immediate assistance before you print or order.

CHOICES
Poet, critic, and dictionary writer Samuel Johnson observed, “He who has so little knowledge of human nature as to seek happiness by changing anything but his own disposition will waste his life in fruitless efforts and multiply the grief which he purposes to remove.” Most people want to change the world to improve their lives, but the world they need to change first is the one inside themselves. That is a choice – one that some are not willing to make.
The longer you live, the more your life is shaped by your choices. You decide what you will eat. (This is one of the most common ways small children begin to assert their independence.) You decide what toys to play with. You decide whether to do homework or watch TV. You choose which friends to spend time with. You choose whether to finish high school, whether you will go to college, who you will marry, what you will do for a living. The longer you live, the more choices you make – and the more responsible you are for how your life is turning out.
I don’t know what kind of circumstances you’ve had to face in your life. You may have had a really tough time. You may have faced extreme hardship or suffered terrible tragedies. However, your attitude is still your choice.
--The 17 Essential Qualities of a Team Player
… John C. Maxwell
WHAT KIND OF ATTITUDE HAVE YOU CHOSEN?
Have a fantastic week.
