February Plant Spotlight

Our plant highlight for February is peperomia. The National Garden Bureau has named peperomia as the houseplant of the year. Peperomia have been sold as a houseplant since the 1930s. Peperomia

Peperomia belong to the pepper family, Piperaceae, which is the same family we get black pepper from.

Peperomia are a low maintenance houseplant that require bright light and like to dry out slightly between watering. They also are pet friendly!

There is a range of colors and patterns available. Some peperomia trail and others grow upright. This is a great plant family to collect because of the diversity.

Peperomia 'Frost'

Peperomia Prostrata 'String of Turtles'

This variety has become popular in the last several years. People love how it looks like turtle shells.

Peperomia 'Hope'

This is a unique trailing variety that makes a beautiful hanging basket.

Peperomia Obtusifolia 'Green'

This species is upright and comes in many different colors. The variegated forms come in a striking green and yellow combination and green and cream with a hot pink edge.
