GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Lunch Bunch will not meet in August. Next date is September 14.

A note from Lara Case, Good Shepherd Postulant:
Dear Good Shepherd,
I wanted to write and say first that you all and your transition are in my prayers. I am grateful to announce that I have been hired to be the Director of Family and Youth Ministries at Grace Church, Bainbridge Island, WA. I am sad to be so far from you all, though I feel you with me here. I believe you would like Grace a lot, they have similar values to Good Shepherd. It is a blessed opportunity to grow in my ministry and learn new things. It is also a joy to be near my parents and my sister and her three little boys. Thank you once more for your guidance and support. Hopefully I will see you soon!
Peace and Blessings to you all, Lara

SHRINEMONT
At the end of August we will begin the official reservations and payment. If you are interested and want more information email Brian and Nellie at thompsonsnest@aol.com to let them know of your interest.

EPPN Action Alerts
Tell Congress to Help Stop Illegal Deforestation. Urge your representatives to cosponsor the FOREST Act of 2021 (S.2950/H.R.5508). This bipartisan legislation would improve trade transparency to help ensure our nation’s imports are not connected to illegal deforestation in other countries. It is a step to ensuring that U.S. companies and citizens are not indirectly supporting illegal deforestation and its related activities.
A Closer Look with OGR: Religious Liberty and the Supreme Court with BJC. Holly Hollman, General Counsel and Associate Executive Director of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty, joined OGR and Mary Kostel, Chancellor to the Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church, for a conversation about the implications of recent Supreme Court decisions on religious liberty. The discussion addressed the case of the praying football coach, and taxpayer support for religious schools in Maine, and helped shed light on the framework for these decisions and what it means for those of us committed to religious freedom. A recording of the event is available on our website’s events page.
Upcoming: EPPN Advocacy Training Day: The Environment. Wednesday, August 10th from 2:00-4:30 pm EDT. Join the staff of the Office of Government Relations for a network wide virtual EPPN Advocacy Training Day to address Creation Care! During this advocacy training, we will help you go deeper in your advocacy with training from Office of Government Relations staff as well as the chance to connect with other advocates. You will come away with best practices for setting up, conducting, and following up on advocacy meetings, ideas for how to expand your advocacy meeting into a longer-term relationship building, and tips for building an effective strategy for engagement. This training day will focus on climate provisions, where our experts will share details about an advocacy ask that we will use as an example during the training. Then, once the training is over, we want you to go out and advocate!
For any questions please call Lynette Clark at 301-357-1726 or email at ilovegoldens@gmail.com

Update from the Wardens
Greetings from Agen, a lovely town about one hour from Toulouse where I am presenting and coaching at a wonderful language teacher’s conference. (George and our dog Sophie are staying in Toulouse this week because Sophie needed some time “at home” after the trip to see my French family last week.)

Debbie Beebe took fantastic notes at the Q and A session with the Rev. Dr. Anne-Marie Jeffries on June 19. This was the session where we learned more about the transition process. You can access the notes here. Thank you, Debbie! A lot of us were able to stay for the meeting, so if you weren’t able to be there, do ask around if you have further questions and thoughts!

At last week's Vestry meeting the Vestry voted to ask JasCiel Stamp to fill the vacancy on the Vestry that was created by the resignation of Garrett Nicholson. JasCiel has agreed to serve out the term, which ends in February 2024. We are excited for JasCiel to join us during this important time for Good Shepherd.

Mother Anna began serving as our Interim Rector Monday, August 1st. We're thrilled for her to officially join us.

As a reminder, each week, a member of the Vestry takes on the role of the Vestry member on duty (“VonD”). That person’s name and phone number is in the bulletin each week. If you see anything that needs attention at the church, or if you have questions, thoughts, concerns, please let the “VonD” know about it.

With love and blessings,
Anna & Rosemary
