The Chosen Continues on Sunday Evenings

7:00-8:30 p.m. (Mountain Time) in the Library at St. Mark's and also on Zoom!

We so enjoyed spending Sunday evenings in June watching and discussing episodes of The Chosen, we decided to continue meeting, at least through the remainder of Season 1. In an effort to make participation more accessible, we've also decided to try offering this opportunity for fellowship in a hybrid fashion---both in person in St. Mark's Library and on Zoom.  Bring snacks, drinks, friends, and questions to share! All are welcome. Contact Jennifer Lind for any questions (via email here). You may also access episodes at home for free anytime on The Chosen website.

Campout Coffee Hour

For those who will not be at the Bandelier Campground on July 30th, we've got something special planned...

Come to St. Mark's for the 9:30 Sunday liturgy on July 30th (in-person or virtually). We won't be having our usual 5th-Sunday-of-the-Month Pancake Breakfast; instead, we'll host Campout Coffee Hour. It will including lit fire pits in the Courtyard for s'more making and ready-to-eat "pigs in a blanket!" Please sign up on the sign-up sheet on the Welcome Table in the narthex to bring one (or more) of the following:

Salad Extravaganza in Honor of the Morton Family

The Morton Family's last Sunday in attendance at St. Mark's will be July 16th, 2023 at the 9:30 liturgy and following coffee hour.

During Coffee Hour, we are planning to have a special salad potluck to celebrate the Morton family. St. Mark's will provide drinks available for all ages and tastes. We ask that all parishioners bring a salad (fruit, pasta, potato, Caesar, spinach, chicken, quinoa, rice - all salads are encouraged). Come and help us celebrate the Morton family and bask in the bitter-sweet joy and sadness as we say goodbye and wish them well on their new adventure.

Free Little Pantry Fundraiser

Our exiting SMMS Director, Tricia Morton, suggested that we build a “Free Little Pantry” a few months ago. The concept is similar to the “Little Rolling Library” – only with non-perishable food items, family supplies (diapers, wipes), or personal items (deodorant, toothpaste, etc.) The Free Little Pantry offers a way for church members, our school families, our Cub Scout families and our neighborhood to give what they can and take what they need. The pantry will be installed within easy access of both the school and the church on the east side of the building. The Cub Scouts and a few church members have agreed to construct the pantry, but we’ll need to raise approximately $300-$400 for the building materials. We hope to complete the project so that it may be dedicated to the Morton family as we send them off to their new home in North Dakota with our warm wishes on July 16th. If you’d like to make a donation to cover the building materials, please mark your check or offering envelope with “Free Little Pantry.” If you’d like to help with construction, please contact our Church Administrator, Jennifer Lind, (via email here) or (505) 262-2484.

Summer of Conversation, Conversation Cafés & Logbook

Summer of Conversation will occur throughout the summer, but meeting at the church on Sundays is a ready-made meeting place option for most. With the formation classes on hiatus for the summer, we're opening up what we call, "Conversation Cafés" where people may meet for their Summer of Conversations in the Parish Hall after worship on Sunday mornings.

We have a Summer of Conversation Logbook for all parishioners to log their conversations. It resides on the table in the hallway between the narthex and the Parish Hall. Please update it regularly with whom you've met with and what date you met so that we can make sure everyone has a conversation (logging is not required, but we do have some cool stickers if you participate!). The logbook is sorted alphabetically by last name. If you're not in the book, there are blank sheets you may put your name on the inner flap of the binder cover.

Friendly Reminder: Stay Diligent with Digital Communications

digital_envelope_hand.jpg

A friendly reminder to stay diligent while responding to unsolicited email and texts from anyone presenting themselves from St. Mark's (staff, clergy, parishioners, etc.).

Please know that our clergy and staff will never ask for money/gift cards in a personal email/text or ask you to keep something "private" or "secret."

Every few months, scammers tend to make the rounds within our Diocese. Please stay alert by checking sender email addresses and phone numbers, and check for misspellings and/or poor grammar. When in doubt check with the church office (505-246-2484) before making any financial transaction or giving out any personal information in communications with members/staff/clergy of St. Mark's.

Thank you for your continued efforts,

--Staff of St. Mark's
