Discipleship By the Sea: Believe

Mark 5: 21-43
“Only believe, only believe, all things are possible, only believe!” – So goes the old, familiar song. . .
What does it mean to believe? It is more than an intellectual agreement with some doctrine...Jesus says it is about trust and faith.

In these challenging times, when truth and justice and peace are at risk, what do we believe at SunCoast MCC, and what difference does it make? What do our pastors believe? How can believing help us embrace the possibility of hope for ourselves and our world?

Let’s come together Sunday and find out!

Celebrating Black History Month
There are many events in the surrounding areas to learn and celebrate Black History. Concerts, theater, literature events and panel discussions are a great opportunity for us to learn as we honor the contributions of the many known and unknown African-Americans. Use the links below to check out the many events in our area.
Agusta Savage was a leading artist in arts education as well as the Harlem Renaissance. She was the first Black artist to join what was then known as the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors and helped found the Harlem Artists' Guild.

The sculpture was commissioned for the 1939 world's fair but was destroyed after the closing of the fair. The Harp includes 12 singers who form the strings of the harp. The hand of God acts as the soundboard of the harp and holds up the singers while a kneeling man acts as the foot pedal. Replicas can be found throughout the United States.

The statue was named after the song/poem "Lift Every Voice and Sing". This beautiful hymn is often referred to as the "The Black National Anthem." James Weldon Johnson, an NAACP leader, wrote the poem in 1900. His brother, John Rosamond Johnson (1873-1954), composed the music for the lyrics.

Brené Brown’s “Braving the Wilderness” is an easy read that explores the relationship among spirituality, authenticity and connection, and offers strategies for helping ourselves and all who come through our doors feel a sense of true belonging. The class will focus on exploring how authenticity and spirituality strengthen connection in our cherished community.

Updated SunCoast MCC Protocols for Onsite Worship

The Board of Directors regularly revisits the safety protocols in relation to COVID-19. We continue to monitor the local statistics and will make changes when possible.
We will facilitate social distancing at indoor and outdoor gatherings (indoors, people will be encouraged to sit with people they feel comfortable sitting near, people can sit farther apart, ushers will help people who need it). Chairs will be further apart outside, in small clusters.
In order to attend indoor worship, you must be fully vaccinated.

Masks are required for indoor services.
During outside worship, people will need to wear masks while singing as well as entering and leaving the Worship area. If you feel comfortable, you may remove your mask during outside worship.
