Graduate Assistant Spotlight
Lorenzo Zamora is currently in the Master of Public Administration program as well as the graduate assistant at the Falcon Food Pantry. A 2021 graduate of BGSU, Lorenzo returned to BGSU the following year. As the GA, Lorenzo is in charge of managing a team of interns, while also making sure shelves are stocked and that the clients at the pantry feel welcomed and happy. Lorenzo understands the issue of food insecurity on college campuses and was recently awarded the Nachman Justice Award. This award is given to students by Swipe Out Hunger, a national nonprofit organization, who demonstrate leadership when it comes to food insecurity on their college campus. Lorenzo is passionate about serving those who are in need, and strives to create a nonjudgmental atmosphere at the Falcon Food Pantry.

Lorenzo and the current interns at the Falcon Food Pantry are ready to serve those who may need extra help getting food. They want to make BGSU a food secure university where students can thrive and not have to worry about whether they can afford food or not. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to come to the Falcon Food Pantry once a week and shop. No proof of need is required. Current hours are Mondays and Thursdays from noon to 3pm and Wednesdays from 2:30 to 5:30pm

Call for scholarly chapters and practitioner case studies for novice educators

Developing Educational Leaders A Practical Approach to the First Year of Teaching:

Preparing teachers for the 21st century learning environment requires an approach that incorporates current best
practices and provides critical thinking skills to address continual shifts in educational trends. In the wake of
unparalleled national and state challenges districts have increased their reliance on local solutions. Local
consideration for community demographics, culture, practices, and social needs promote grass roots approaches to
universally shared challenges.

The purpose of this peer-reviewed textbook is to not only provide novice teachers with policy perspectives from the
federal and state level, but more critically to provide perspectives on how federal and state policies influence local
pedagogies. In addition to providing current national and state guidance for novice teachers, each themed chapter of
the textbook will include functional and applicable practitioner-based case studies from schools located in rural,
suburban, and/or urban districts.
