New Friends of the Library President

The Friends of the Library is excited to announce that Dr. W. Dennis Keating, CSU Emeritus Professor, was elected as the new Friends of the Library President at their annual meeting. He taught in the Levin College of Urban Affairs and the College of Law at Cleveland State University and has been a supporter of the Friends of the Michael Schwartz Library for many years.

Barb Gauthier was the Friends President from 2021 through June 2023 and announced this summer she was stepping down from that role. She retired from the CSU Michael Schwartz Library in 2019 after more than 36 years of dedicated service. She is also a CSU Alum, an Associate of the University, and as past president, an officer of the Friends of the Library.

Library Webinars and Online Events
The Friends of the Michael Schwartz Library showcases library webinars and online events each month featuring bestselling, award-winning, and highly acclaimed authors from around the world. The featured writers and thought leaders will cover a wide range of fiction and nonfiction genres.  

The free, virtual events take place two to three times a month and includes the opportunity to ask questions to the author. A complete list of events is available on the Library's Webinars and Online Events website. Upcoming speakers include:

Sustainability Book Club - Fall 2023

Are you hungry for deeper dialogue about the climate crisis and building community around solutions? All We Can Save is an anthology of writings by 60 women at the forefront of the climate movement who are harnessing truth, courage, and solutions to lead humanity forward. Through essays, poetry and art, the book fosters deep and fulfilling conversations about climate change and inspires us to connect, nourish, and take action. 

This ten-week book club will meet on Thursdays from 12-1pm, September 14 through November 16. The first two sessions will be in person, and the rest will either be in-person or online, depending on the preferences of the group. In person sessions will take place in RT 503 (in the Michael Schwartz Library). Registration is free and the first 12 registrants will receive a free copy of the book. All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to participate.
