Green Bandana Initiative Registration Week

The West Virginia Green Bandana Initiative (WVGBI) is a mental health campaign aimed at encouraging students at West Virginia's colleges and universities to receive basic mental health training.

Students completing Mental Health First Aid, QPR, SafeTALK, or another evidence based mental health training will receive a green bandana to wear or tie to their bookbag to signify to other students that they are open to talking about mental health and willing to help peers connect with resources on campus.

If you are interested in participating in a mental health training this spring, visit our website using the QR code for a list of training opportunities available on campuses across West Virginia or virtually.

You can also register and get your green bandana in the Student Activities Office, Room 105, Wheeling B&O Building.

Ice Skating at Wheeling Park

During the month of February, the Office of Student Activities has partnered with Wheeling Park Ice Rink to provide one free admission with skate rental included.

These vouchers are good for the 2022-2023 season.

You can reserve up to two tickets.

Please e-mail studentactivities@wvncc.edu to reserve your vouchers today.

As a member of HLC’s Assessment Academy, WVNCC is revising its approach to general education assessment.

  • What should all students know and be able to do as a result of an education at Northern?
  • How do we know they’ve learned these things?

Join us for lunch and an informal conversation with recent graduates of the Assessment Academy from Belmont College. We’ll chat about what they learned, challenges they faced, and what their college gained from participating in this 4-year institute.

Lunch provided courtesy of a WVNCC Foundation Mini-Grant.

If you can't make it in person, join us by Zoom.

RSVP to chackbart@wvncc.edu by Wednesday, February 1st to be guaranteed a lunch.

Virtual Escape Room - The Great Train Caper

Tue., Feb. 21

7 - 8pm

Join us for a virtual escape room full of mysteries and fun!

You and your friends awake on the train and you instantly know something is wrong. You were traveling with the famous financier Walter Edward Moneybags. He’s gone now, and it looks like foul play. Worse, it seems other people are missing from the train, too. There was a local sheriff who had hopped on the train, but he’s gone now. And the engineer driving the train is missing too. There’s only one thing to do…solve the mystery and stop the train.

The Great Train Caper is a light-hearted virtual escape room featuring complex puzzles on a runaway train from the past. Players cooperate over zoom to solve the crime.

RSVP to studentactivities@wvncc.edu to reserve your spot.

Presented by Ron Scott, Cultural Diversity and Community Outreach Coordinator at the YWCA.
