Meet the Clinical Practice Assistants
Susan Diaz

Prior to the GCRU, I worked for three years as a medical assistant in the Infectious Diseases department at Boston Medical Center. My job at the GCRU is to provide support to our nurses and the study coordinators by carrying out assigned services at participant study visits including performing EKGs, taking vital signs, phlebotomy, and more. "I like being exposed to the complexities of research studies. I’m learning a lot and enjoy being challenged to further develop the skills that require attention to detail and demand precision.”
Amanda Enid Jiménez

I worked as a seasoned research technician for several years in the biomedical research field. Volunteering at MEEI motivated me to pursue a career in healthcare. I first became a certified phlebotomy technician and then a licensed EMT-B; I also earned my masters in human physiology in May 2021. I currently work as a CPA at the GCRU, where I provide medical assistance to the nursing staff, i.e. taking vital signs, performing blood draws and EKGs, and assist with lab processing for both the GCRU and Dr. Ruiz-Opazo’s laboratory. "I like working here because I utilize all of my skills that I’ve acquired from my training and past job experiences, and I enjoy interacting with the patients at the GCRU."
