Bob: “It was a great week, wasn’t it Pastor Butch.”
PB: “It sure was, Bob.”
Bob: “Thanks for letting me help you.”
PB: “Thank you for wanting to help. But I think it was more me helping you. You really were a blessing to those kids.”
Bob: “They were a blessing to me. I really loved hugging them. It was so much more fun than the virtual VBS we did last year. I enjoyed doing that, too, and I know that was what we had to do at the time; but I didn’t know hugging children could be so wonderful!”
PB: “It is pretty wonderful. And I’m pretty sure they loved hugging you.”
Bob: “I’m missing them already. And the next time I see them they will be so much bigger.”
PB: “Yep. They grow up fast. Before you know it, they will be young men and women. It seems like yesterday when those youth helpers were in the nursery.”
Bob: “Wow! That is amazing.”
PB: “It really is.”
Bob: (After a long meditative pause) “You know else is amazing, Pastor Butch?”
PB: “What, Bob?”
Bob: “All those adults that were there at VBS, teaching, and leading, and serving, and ministering.”
PB: “Yeah, we couldn’t do VBS without them. They really are a blessing. I never want to take them for granted.”
Bob: “God really is good to us, isn’t He?”
PB: “He really is.”
Bob: (After another long meditative pause) “I really love our church family.”
PB: “I do, too, Bob. More than I can adequately express.”
PB: “Bob, is that a tear in your eye?”
Bob: “Uh, uh… no, I don’t think so. But I haven’t blinked in a long time, so maybe it is.”
PB: “Well Bob, now that another VBS is over, what are you going to do now?”
Bob: “I’m going to fly over to “Mamie’s Bed & Breakfast” and kick back with one of my best friends.”
PB: “Sounds good, buddy! You have a restful and relaxing time!”
Bob: “I will. Thanks. I love you, Pastor Butch.”
PB: “I love you, too, Bob.”
