“How are they to believe in one they’ve never heard?”
(Romans 10:14b)
A recent article in CoMo Magazine by Jodie Jackson, Jr, offers this startling image: “If you could line up all the Missouri children and youth with a behavioral health concern and space them three feet apart on I-70, the line would reach 206 miles, or roughly the distance from Kansas City to Wentzville. Now use the same parameters for lining up the number of child and adolescent psychiatrists in the state. You’ll only need one and a half football fields for that line.” The mental health crisis is real and present among the youngest in our community. The need is great but how has the need been silenced in the Church? How many times has the message from the Church been perceived as, “Just have faith” and all will be well? It begins with trusted adults listening, making and holding space for youth to speak honestly about their lives. How can they live with hope if no one has validated their experience and shared of a way forward?

Addiction, or Substance Use Disorders, affects people from all walks of life and all ages. These illnesses are common, recurrent, and often serious but are treatable and many recover.
Addictions – whether that be the abuse of a chemical substance, a reliance on comfort food or
dependency upon an activity to cope with life’s struggles, can become controlling to the point
of death. A person battling addiction often runs risk of the destruction of relationships, livelihoods and self-esteem. Addictions often start small and snowball into uncontrollable realities. Join us for conversation about the journey of and through addiction and how it can impact our lives and the relationships we share.

M.O.M is asking for donations of the blue recycling bags or the coupons provided by the city for these. If you have an abundance of these items, we can use them at the Habitat Sale!
