MAYOR'S UPDATE
From the desk of Mayor Rika Levin
There are, as always, very exciting things going on in Ossining. As you have probably have guessed, since I wasn't able to attend the events that went on this past weekend, I am traveling on a much-needed vacation – where I have the privilege to spend time with my family. I am spending time visiting different communities. Pictured here is a famous Yemenite artist Ben Tzion David who also started a cultural center in Jaffa (in Israel) — one of the oldest cities in history.
Congratulations to the Ossining ENU for organizing the first of what we hope will be many "First Friday” Community Crawl events on Croton Avenue and downtown! ENU Builds created an enriching evening with art, comedy, music, entertainment, food, and of course, friends! If you're looking to see what else they have in store, be sure to follow their Facebook page.
I am thrilled to share that we had a great turnout for the honorary street naming of Beach Road – now also named Barbara Klapkowski's Way. You can click here to learn more about Ms. Klapkowski and her contributions to the Village of Ossining.
You are invited to attend the 3rd Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) Local Planning Committee (LPC) Meeting. This meeting will be held via Zoom.

I am pleased to invite the community to join the Village of Ossining to learn more about Project MOVER and share their input! Project MOVER intends to put electric bikes within reach of every Ossining resident and visitor, providing a viable mobility option that will benefit people who don’t wish to drive, don’t find it economical to drive, or need a quick and fun way to get around the Village.

The Village will be hosting a virtual community meeting via Zoom on Monday, April 11, 2022, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., and welcome residents and business owners to attend.

At the meeting, we will discuss the following topics:

  • Project goals and desired outcomes
  • Program features
  • Opportunities to get involved

This week’s Legislative Meeting will take place on Wednesday, 4/5, at 7:30 PM.

Some items of note:

  • We will have a Special Presentation from Paul Presendieu from Sustainable Westchester, who will be updating the BOT on the need for a CCA renewal contract.
  • There is a resolution for the Cabaret Request from Sirenita Lounge and a resolution approving the awning permit for 23-25 Spring Street.
  • Finally, under New Business, Corporation Council Kahan will be discussing the property at 31 Croton Avenue – who’s owner is seeking a density bonus, which would increase the building height, in the Downtown Overlay District (this would require a Special Permit from the BOT, following referral to and response from the Planning Board).
