"The life of Christianity consists of possessive pronouns. It is one thing to say, "Christ is a Saviour"; it is quite another thing to say, "He is my Saviour and my Lord." The devil can say the first;

the true Christian alone can say the second.

- Martin Luther

“That’s mine!”  Declares the toddler on the playground.  The toddler thinks the little shovel on the playground belongs to them.  Though there are a plethora of toys for all the children to play with she thinks it belongs only to her.  So she shouts, “That’s mine!”

Spend a little time around little humans and you will see how possessive they can be.  With Jesus, we can be possessive, too.  Sure, Jesus came for everyone.  We know that He came to save the world, but it is always important to remember that Jesus made it very personal for each and every one of us.

The prophet Zechariah proclaims how the savior will come,

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey,

on a colt, the foal of a donkey. - Zechariah 9:9

The prophet makes it clear,Your king comes to you.”   That is exactly what happened.  Under waving palm branches and jubilant shouts, Jesus came to save.  Our Lord Jesus rode into the fray and was dead by the end of the week.  Why would Jesus the Savior willingly ride into danger?  One word- YOU!

As Holy Week approaches, remember Jesus is your personal Savior.  He was betrayed for you, tortured for you, illegally tried for you, died for you, and rose from the dead for you.  So this week, get possessive and say, “Jesus is mine!”

See you Sunday as we rejoice greatly as Christ Jesus comes to Jerusalem on the back of a donkey.

Pastor Austin

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
