The Price is Right! at Mill Cove Nursing Home
"Come on Down to the Price is right" One of the many amazing activities offered at Mill Cove Nursing Home. When entering the room, the lights, theme song and presentation of items makes residents feel like they have just walked into a game show they are all so familiar with. The goal of this activity is to engage residents in reminiscing and storytelling through the use of visuals aids from a given year. The use of a mic allows residents to have center stage as they share their story. It is important to allow everyone to have a chance to engage in conversation, time is not a factor just play the game and watch the residents respond. Similarly to what Bob Barker use to say at the end of the show, we remind everyone to help control the pet population have your pets spayed or neutered. This Activity was developed by Janeice Hill while taking her training through Person Centered Universe.

Christmas surprises for the residents from students in the community at Falls Villa in Grand Falls
To add to the Christmas celebrations, Grade 8 students from Grand Falls prepared personalized Christmas sweet treats and gifts for the residents of Falls Villa / Villa des Chutes. The students started this initiative to create a class project to make a difference and add joy to the residents, and it was a great success! They filled several carts with crafts made with tremendous talent and creativity! Amélie Cayouette, administrator, shares with us that “we are blessed for these students who have thought of us and they put a lot of effort into their work! It is greatly appreciated”. Here are a few residents who proudly pose with their gifts and others who are tasting their sweet treats.

Resident(s) of the Month
York Care Centre and Foundation
York Care Centre (YCC) and Foundation started their Resident of The Month this past June. The Resident(s) of the Month is an opportunity to feature residents of the home by sharing their stories. So far, this has been a big hit in within the home, and the community! They are getting involvement from family members and staff. In honour of Valentine’s Day in February, YCC is sharing the story of a popular couple, Ernie and Jean Colwell. Ernie and Jean are very well-known in the halls of their home as Ernie loves to socialize with people. They can often be found in the dining room or around the facility, chatting with residents, staff and visitors. Meet Ernie and Jean Colwell!
