BADM 1801 - Section 002: Elevating Tomorrow's Leaders: Women in Finance

Wednesdays 12:20 PM - 1:10 PM - Distance Learning


This course is intended to support and elevate students, particularly women, those historically underrepresented in gender roles, and those concerned with gender barriers in the field of finance, by helping enrolled students develop industry-specific skills, identify goals towards crafting a personal brand, and build the confidence to pursue leadership roles within the finance industry. Students will engage with commonly used tools to learn required skills and earn marketable certifications. Students will build confidence and develop language with which to articulate strengths that help contribute to a woman's successful career in finance. Students will learn from leaders in the finance field to improve awareness of key skill sets needed to enhance a woman’s career trajectory in finance. This course is open to UConn students of all identities who seek to explore leadership in finance with a clear emphasis on women.


BADM 1801 - Section Z81: CQ for Business: Intercultural Competency for the Global Marketplace

This course will help you build your intercultural knowledge and awareness for global business and give you tools to address a wide variety of cultural scenarios and differences.


Join Arminda Kamphausen, Associate Director, Global Business Programs to: 

  • Grow in self-awareness through reflection
  • Learn the cultural dimensions that impact a people groups worldview
  • Explore cultural norms across a variety of international settings
  • Experience cultural exchange virtually through engagement in the U21 Global Citizenship program (below)

BUSN 1801 - Section H72: CFA Mentorship Course

This course is intended for sophomore through senior UConn Hartford and Stamford Financial Management majors. Students will be paired with a professional Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) through the Hartford CFA Society who will serve as a mentor.

BUSN 4895 - Section Z81: Introduction to Nonprofit Management

Thursdays 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM - In Person - Stamford

Prerequisites: Open to all students who are sophomore or higher. All students who are not junior+ business majors will need to request a permission number.


This special topics course provides an introduction to nonprofit organization management, including an understanding of the nonprofit sector, different types of nonprofit organizations, and core functions and skills required to successfully operate and contribute to a nonprofit organization. Students will learn about governance, leadership and management, strategy, accountability and measuring performance, programmatic design and implementation, marketing and communications, advocacy and lobbying, financial management, philanthropic fundraising, social enterprise and earned income, and government grants and contracts.  


FNCE 4895 - Section 002: Private Equity and Entrepreneurial Capital

Tuesdays 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM - Distance Learning

Prerequisites: FNCE 3101 or MATH 3650. Business major or Actuarial/Math/Finance major of junior or higher status at all campuses.


The objective of this seminar course is to understand the process PE and VC investors follow in making decisions about valuation and financing of startups, and, along the way, to master the language of the industry. Seminar participants will become conversant in the articulate framework used in the PE & VC process; valuation, term sheets, due diligence, deal structuring, and devising of appropriate exit strategies. The seminars will be presented by prominent UConn alums and practitioners in the PE and VC industries. Each seminar is 1-hour 15 minutes long, followed by 15 minutes Q&A.

Google Solution Challenge 2023

The Google Solution Challenge 2023 invites individuals or teams to submit projects that leverage Google's tools and technologies to solve real-world problems. The competition includes different categories such as Google Cloud, Android, Chrome, Google Assistant, and others. The prizes and rewards for the winners are quite substantial. The top 3 teams will win a $3,000 cash prize per team member, a feature in the Google Developers Blog and global Demo Day live stream, plus mentorship with a Google expert, swag, and a certificate. The top 10 teams will win a $1,000 cash prize per team member, a feature in the Google Developers Blog and global Demo Day live stream, plus mentorship with a Google expert, swag, and a certificate

Norwalk Havoc Robot League

NHRL (Norwalk Havoc Robot League) is the largest and most accessible robot combat league in the world, with 6 events across the year to gain a place at the 3lb, 12lb and 30lb $1 MILLION World Championships at the end of each NHRL season. You’ll see hundreds of fights at each event across 6 purpose built cages with groundbreaking robots from fully autonomous spinning robots known as Meltybrains, to flamethrower bots which melt their opponents into a pile of molten parts.
