Along with his role as DGA Education Coordinator for Ohio, John is a Sustainable Agriculture Educator at the Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association. Here he can utilize skills and experiences from over 25 years of working and teaching in the fields of conservation and sustainable agriculture. On his farm in SE Ohio he grows and hunts much of his own food. Most evenings, depending upon the season, he can be found on the front porch or in front of the wood stove.

Camila grew up in the largest milk-producing state of Brazil. She graduated as a Veterinarian from the Federal University of Minas Gerais - Brazil, where she also got her MSc. and Ph.D. in Animal Science. While in Brazil, Camila had the opportunity to work with farmers managing cows under rotational grazing systems.


Camila moved to the US in 2018 and spent two years of her Ph.D. program at Penn State as a visiting scholar, working with Dairy Nutrition. After graduating, she spent one year in California as a postdoc on automated economic opportunities of implementing automatic milking technologies in dairy farms.


Camila is currently a Dairy Management Specialist for Cornell University, part of the SWNY Dairy, Livestock, and Field Crops. She just started as an EC with DGA and is looking forward to working with Mentors and Apprentices from Western NY and learning more about the art of grazing!

Hayley White

Hayley White will join the DGA team on January 1, 2023, as the Educational Coordinator for Oregon. Hayley is a Small Farms Outreach Coordinator for the Oregon State University Extension Service. She works with a wide range of farms that sell directly to consumers and specializes in assisting them with their livestock and grazing systems.


She graduated from Montana State University, receiving a Master's Degree in Animal Science focused on Ruminant Nutrition and a Bachelor's in Agriculture Communications. While there, she was the assistant coach for the MSU Livestock Judging Team and the Livestock Operations Manager for the Steer-A-Year Program. She has also worked for the Idaho State Department of Agriculture - Dairy Bureau and assisted dairies with nutrient management plans.


Hayley enjoys connecting with farmers and creating non-formal learning opportunities where folks can learn by doing and from each other.

The Managed Grazing Innovation Center (MGIC) is an online school that is owned and operated by Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship (DGA), a nonprofit organization with a federally registered National Apprenticeship in managed grazing dairy production. The Apprenticeship program consists of 4000 hours over two years: 3700 hours of paid fulltime work-based training under an approved Mentor Dairy Grazier and 300 hours of related instruction. DGA also offers a “Managed Grazing Dairy Certificate,” comprised of the same core classes and a two-hour orientation. This meets the requirements for DGA Apprentices and will also be awarded to non-Apprentice students who complete certificate requirements within five years. DGA courses are also open to the public.

We are excited to once again welcome Dr. Bob Milligan who will lead us through a focused discussion on the Purpose & Core Clause for your farm.


Think about why your farm. I am pretty certain your answer will in some why include that farming is meaningful to you. Similarly, having a job that provides meaning is increasingly important to employees – a must for many. A powerful way to provide meaning to your employees is to articulate and continuously communicate your farm’s purpose and core values.
