8th Grade Musical


This Friday, February 17th & Saturday, February 18th the Class of 2023 will be putting on their performance of Into The Woods Jr.


We will again be using the Eventbrite ticketing system - to offer both tickets available for sale, and also free tickets to both performances. If you would like to attend either show, please use the links below to reserve your seats. There are a limited number of seats still available for purchase. If you want free tickets, you still need to reserve your seats using the Eventbrite links below so that we can make sure everyone has their assigned seat for the performances.


Book Fair and Read-A-Thon – February 17th – 24th 


The annual St. Cecilia Catholic School Book Fair and Read-A-Thon – “Happily Ever After… With A Book” - will take place Friday, February 17th – Friday, February 24th.


Theme Days

  • Friday, February 17th - “Cozy Up With A Good Book / Pajama Day” (must wear athletic shoes with PJ’s) or Spirit Day attire
  • Monday, February 20th - Inservice Day - No school
  • Tuesday, February 21st - “Beads, Bands, and Books” Mardi Gras Theme - dress in Mardi Gras colors & Kindergarten Mambo Book Fair Parade
  • Wednesday, February 22nd - “Read to a Friend” – Bring a stuffed animal to school. Wednesday is Ash Wednesday so we will have Mass. Mass attire is required for all students.
  • Thursday, February 23rd - “Character Con” - Dress as Your Favorite Book Character Day
  • Friday, February 24th - “Go Texan Day” and “We’ve got the Spirit for Reading” Spirit Day – students can dress in either Spirit wear attire or Go Texan Day attire (please see information about Go Texan Day below).


Book Fair Volunteer Opportunities & Class Visit Schedule

We would love volunteer help in making our Book Fair a success. Parents interested in helping with setup, helping students shop, or clean up can please use this sign-up-genius and you can view the class visit schedule here.


Book Fair Scholastic eWallet Payment Setup

eWallet is a safe and convenient digital payment option for your child to shop the Fair cash-free. No more scrambling for money on Book Fair day or worrying about lost cash. Please click here to set up your eWallet. Credit cards are also accepted in person at the Book Fair, but we cannot take cash at Book Fair.

  • Please note – it is important that you print out your eWallet information once you set it up, and send it to school with your child(ren) for Book Fair. It is important for the students to have the proof of eWallet and their updated balance when they come to purchase.


Read-A-Thon Information

The Read-A-Thon is an opportunity for students to show their love for reading and to support St. Cecilia Catholic School HSA and takes place at the same time as Book Fair – February 17th – 24th. Please view and read the links below for all of the details.

Daddy Daughter Dance - Saturday, February 18th - 6:00PM to 8:30PM


Daddies get dapper, and Daughters get ready to be swept off your feet! Please join us for our "Forever Valentine" annual Daddy Daughter Dance. Party will include DJ entertainment, dancing, photo booth, dessert and drinks and is open to all 1st through 5th grade girls.

Go Texan Day 


It's Rodeo time in Houston again, and we are celebrating this annual event with "Go Texan Day" on Friday, February 24th. All students are allowed to wear their rodeo gear to school. They may wear jeans, boots, western-styled shirts, and belts. Note: Students must wear tennis shoes for PE. Of course, our young caballeros should leave their pistolas, lariats, and livestock at home.

Skilled Student Initiative – Java With Jeff and Carpool Update


Java With Jeff

Save-the-date for Tuesday, February 28th at 8:15AM in the Auditorium for the 3rd Quarter Java With Jeff. The topic will be “The Skilled Student” executive functioning program from The Conative Group and how St. Cecilia will be implementing this initiative. Dr. Kimberly B. Harrison, Clinical Psychologist and founder of The Conative Group, has over 12 years of research and clinical practice focused on improving executive functions. She has developed a treatment approach, which combines Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Executive Function Coaching. To underscore the importance of parents attending this Java with Jeff, we will be issuing free dress passes to the students whose parents attend. Please RSVP online to attend.

Grandparents and Special Friends Day – Friday, March 3rd 12:30PM to 2:30PM


The St. Cecilia Catholic School annual Grandparents and Special Friends Day will take place on Friday, March 3rd from 12:30PM to 2:30PM. The full schedule of the events for the day, and online registration can be found here.


We will be mailing printed invitations to Grandparents next week. Please note that if a grandparent is unable to attend, a special friend (i.e. an aunt, uncle, or family friend) is welcome to attend in their place. We do kindly ask that parents and siblings not attend as the special friend. If a grandparent or special friend needs assistance, we understand that accompaniment may be necessary by parents.

Mini - Stars Soccer


Mini – Stars Soccer Spring season will start on April 4th, 2023 and run through May 11th, 2023. Depending on the grade level, classes will be on certain days of the week. The schedule is as follows:

  • PRE-K 3 - Kindergarten: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:00 - 4:00PM
  • 1st – 4th: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30PM

RedwoodPrep Math + Course at Strake Jesuit


Reynold D'Souza, a Mathematics Instructor at Strake Jesuit is teaching an advanced Mathematics course for 6th to 8th graders. The Math+ program includes 6 courses. Each Math+ course focuses on 1 major idea based on key concepts included in Stanford University’s introductory math sequence. This Spring, the Math+ program will be focused on the concept of Infinity. Infinity can be defined as “something without any limit”. The concept has applications across disciplines but is particularly critical in mathematics where the concept has been at the center of the field since 1655 when John Wallis, a leading mathematician, defined its mathematical symbol. The six session course will be taught at Strake Jesuit on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 to 6:00 pm starting on Monday, March 20th and ending on April 5th. The course costs $250. St. Agnes Academy Arts Presents Bright Star (February 23-25 & March 2-4, 2023) 


Inspired by a real event, this original musical tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ‘40s. The Tony Award-nominated Best Musical, with music, lyrics and story by Grammy, Emmy and Oscar winner Steve Martin and Grammy winner Edie Brickell is directed by St. Agnes Academy Director of Theatre Ms. Jewell Handy and will play two weekends in MEYER HALL. Tickets can be purchased in advance here. All performances begin at 7:00pm.  

Strake Jesuit Spring Fling – March 5th
