There are traditional practices for Lent which help us to engage in the penitential nature of the season. All adults from the age of 18 until their 59th birthday are asked to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. This means eating only one full meal that day. One can eat at two other times, but the total food should not equal a full meal. This does not apply to those who are ill, pregnant or nursing.

“We call everyone throughout the archdiocese to join our prayers with those of Pope Francis,” ”Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of a time of fasting and prayer in preparation for Easter. We stand with our brothers and sisters in Ukraine suffering the privations and terror of war in their homeland and we pray for their deliverance and restoration of peace."
Cardinal Cupich

There are Lenten Little Black Reflection Books available on the table in the narthex to help you keep the season.

Please note that due to reconstruction happening at the Athenaeum building, the outside gangway between the church and Athenaeum will be blocked off this week. The side entrance of the Church, closest to the Oakdale parking lot, will be open. We apologize for any inconvenience. The construction is on schedule to be completed by Saturday.
