Homeless Shelter Meals

HAPPY-HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Hopefully all of you were able to visit (in person or virtually) with friends and loved ones and have recovered from all the festivities and sugar comas.

Believe it or not, our January dinner for the men at the Friends of the Homeless Shelter is NEXT week! Wednesday, January 11.

HOME COOKS:

  • Your choice of bar cookies/brownies OR "regular" cookies, i.e. chocolate chip, oatmeal, snicker-doodles, etc.
  • Please let me know which you plan to provide
  • From the living room corner table, please pick-up two square pans or a large ziplock bag for 3 dozen cookies and return to Education Building's kitchen by 3 p.m. on Wednesday
  • Pick-up can be arranged, if needed

KIITCHEN CREW:

  • As always, 3-4 people are needed at 2 p.m. to put the sides together -- I guarantee you will finish before 5 p.m. or however long you can stay
  • Please let me know your time availability so we can divvy-up tasks accordingly

TRANSPORTERS / SERVERS:

  • Two vehicles are needed at 5:30 p.m. to transport the dinners -- you can stay and serve if you so desire but double duty is not mandatory
  • A minimum of five servers are needed at the shelter by 6 p.m. -- Six servers would be preferred, the more the merrier
  • Interacting with the men is really gratifying and enlightening -- ask Ellen Yen or Austin Germain about the December "Potluck" Dinner

Please review your calendars and hearts, letting me know your availability to serve as soon as you can. Without you this ministry is not possible.

Also, for those who like to plan ahead, 2023 dinner dates are:

  • February 8
  • March 8
  • April 12
  • May 10
  • June 14
  • July 12
  • August 9
  • September 13
  • October 11
  • November 8
  • December 13

Thank you for your support.

Caring and Sharing

St. Alban’s Social Concerns Committee selects an organization to receive the loose plate offering each month on Caring and Sharing Sunday. Contributions can also be made at any time during the month.

Our January Caring & Sharing partner is She Has a Name (SHAN). She Has A Name exists because they "Believe In The Inherent Value Of Every Human Being".

SHAN strives for a world where all those impacted by human trafficking know their value and therefore, thrive.

The programming focuses on responding to human trafficking through education, advocacy and care for those impacted.

SHAN has 13 continuing programs which work to combat human trafficking in Central Ohio.  They stage a variety of trainings and offer a variety of support to women who have been trafficked as they move away from that life to a better future.
